Sheetiron group up/discussion thread

Hoping you are going to show me the way to SI mountain, or maybe we go harass the folks at the ADV Mendo rally... I'm sure we'll run in to some of them.

My rehab has been slow, but I'm seeing some progress and looking forward to seeing how I hold up on a long ride.

Hey Michael, keep me in mind if you decide to ride the Sheetiron on the KTM instead of the XR. I'm still not fully healed and can't trust myself not to do something stupid on the XR, but I'm pretty safe on the KTM. Was thinking about riding out to Ft Bragg to meet up with the gang the weekend of the Sheetiron. Just an option.

Sounds like a solid Plan B for me. In my hobbled state I'll be a potential liability for anyone I ride the SI with.

Only two weeks to go!! It's looking like some hot weather leading up to May 19th! I can't think of a better way to spend my birthday.

I'm starting to get that, "I gotta get me act together" feeling now. I got my bike as ready as it's going to get. Now just assemble the junk I am going to need for the weekend.

Back from weekend in Stonyford withSFMCJohn.. My Bike is ready for sure. I'm not so sure I'm ready phisically, but will continue to rehab and see how it goes..

We covered 65 miles with an average moving speed of 22.7mh - I think I"ll need to do better than that for the SheetIron.

We took a lot of breaks to enjoy the scenery..

Most of our ride was just easy dirt and fun.

John tackled the water crossings on M5 like a pro

Going home I took Bartlett springs road over to Upper Lake to check out the water crossing the SI does on day two.
The crossing looks just as wide but not that deep..

I guess this guy on the big Harley Davidson was also checking out routes :ride I followed him for a few miles before he finally noticed me and let me by.. That Hog was sliding all over the place on the up hill sections..

I thought you might be over at Cedar.. If I wasn't so damn tired I was going to come crash your site too!

It was great to get back on the XR..

Cedar had some interesting folk there (possible meth heads, who knows?) but I didn't want to stick around so I backtracked to Little Stony. Glad I did too as I wanted to try out those hill climbs (2, 26, 23, 1) and venture up and ride 22. I had little stony all to myself and somehow picked the only campsite there that had full shade coverage most of the day.

BTW: trail 2 was a gnarly climb. Loose, steep, unforgiving.

Drink your milk Michael, you better be ready :)

Another test for myself.
184 mile ride on the 990 last Saturday. I needed a few breaks, but I've deemed myself ready for the SI... The Broken arm is healed, and the Dislocated shoulder continues to heal and get stronger..
