He was a legend to me. I first got my hands on a copy of Hustler around age 11 and was blown away. Real women, often good articles, and he fought to push the envelope for "perverts" and free speech and expression.
The better half was in her mid-teens when she first saw one. She liked that the spreads didn't look overproduced, her impression was that the women were real, so she harbored an ambition to appear in the mag. She got her wish at age 37, in the amateur section; a couple of pics were rejected because she looked underage. She ended up in two main issues and got a two or three pager in Best Of. She enjoyed the respect she got from the talent manager.
Mr. Flynt was a groundbreaker in many ways. RIP sir, you did good.
