RIP Alex Trebek

I guess that's a great legacy, making me want to have watched Jeopardy! more

I had about 150 unwatched episodes on the DVR. I just cleared them a few weeks ago thinking I'd just watch the newer ones. Wish I had them back now.

I really admired AT. He was charming and witty and very sly and subtle with his humor. He stayed above the fray and just made good TV.

Not sure what his off-camera life was like, but I appreciated what he did with Jeopardy!

There's episodes of Jeopardy on Netflix. :teeth

I like that Trebek kept Jeopardy! the same format over the years; never giving in to fads or trends. The show rewarded not being smart but put equal weight on being informed about the world.

RIP Alex.

Very true. Until Ken Jennings came along and turned it upside down. Then pro-gambler James Holzhauer figured out how to really game the system and played it hard. No negativity... cause you still have to be able to play at the end of the day. The #1 thing both those guys revealed in technique... buzzer timing. The buzzers are only active once the question is complete and so many people fail at this. They got the timing down to a science.

One big unanswered question is who is going to take his spot? Well... the wife and I have a hunch it is Ken Jennings. He was hired as a Consulting Producer last fall and we noticed him in the credits. He sure seems like just the right guy to take over the kingdom. I get a kind of Charlie Bucket vibe (Willy Wonka) he may hold the golden ticket. :)

One is in a long term relationship when marital arguments center around the progression of Jeopardy sets.

Trebek has died, long live Alex Trebek.

Oh, my money's on Ken taking the hosting duties.

The pretty thing cried last night when the show started and they said kind words about Alex.

I’m catching up on the DVR and S37E17 Alex basically spills the beans about Jennings taking his place.

Also, it’s hard to watch these recent episodes for the first time knowing he is so close to being dead.

Good catch, thanks. The wife and I think he is the perfect "spirit" replacement for the game. He reveres Alex and the history and nobody could do it better. It's crazy how ingrained Jeopardy has become in most of our lives as well as pop culture.

The last time I was unemployed, I blew through all 11 seasons of Cheers in a week. Then all 11 seasons of Frasier the next week.

After typing that, it feels both impressive and depressing at the same time.

My uncle was a 2-time Jeopardy champion and thanks to the magick of the inner tubes I was able to find the details of his episodes.

Actually it was The Oakland Grill; the gorilla was its mascot.

That's awesome.

Last night's episode was the first one where, at the beginning, Alex was showing the beating he was taking with the disease. :(

But by the end of the show he was 100 percent.

He obviously loved doing the show. :thumbup
