Rider Down on Saratoga Ave

Just drove by Strawberry Park Dr/Olga Dr @ Saratoga Ave right by the Dennys.

Judging by the vehicle positions, car pulled out of Strawberry Park Dr turning left in front of motorcyclist, thus smashing into the rear door of the vehicle. Second car may have been involved, not sure, drove by as passenger about 30 minutes ago.

Fire rescue and ambulance were en route once we got to the light at Williams and Saratoga.

Rider was down, but I think I did see him moving. My cousin said he saw blood coming down either his face or helmet, which was not removed yet.

This shit only gets worse every passing day. It would be a god send if these terrible drivers were put into self driving cars so they can stop being such a risk to everyone else on the road.

Now that's the best idea I've heard in a long long time.

Put them in self-driving cars; at least the robots follow the rules?

Get that!
When a self driving car collides with another vehicle, is the car at fault or is it always the driver?

The programmer.

From a liability perspective that is a non-starter. No programmer would work on a project like that and accept liability.

I will be surprised if there isn't an End-User Agreement specifying liability is on the driver inside, barring any obvious manufacturing or design flaw.

The onus is on the programmers to do their due diligence and act reasonably (unlike the vw programmers) but after that is satisfied they are not going to be liable.

"Due to the inherent variability in driving conditions, the operator of the car is responsible for using the car only when conditions are met for which the car was designed."

If your self driving car is headed towards a cliff, you have the responsibility to press on the brakes.

If your self driving car fails to stop before rear-ending another car and investigation shows a manufacturing or design flaw, the responsible party is the manufacturer.

Black-boxes and self-driving cars will go hand in hand to properly account for liability questions, like how body cameras help (for the most part) law enforcement from being falsely accused of something.

Hope he's okay, and that he hit a $100,000 mercedes.

Knowing that area and the time frame, he most likely hit a soccer mom's minivan while she was rushing to get her kids to school.

Both incorrect, and it was around 9:30PM, so not a soccer mom. If memory serves me correctly, it was one of those 4 door Subaru Crossovers, a dark green color, can't recall what the second vehicle I thought was involved was.

Any info on what kind of bike it was??

Didn't get a good look, as I was focused on the biker, but it looked to be some type of sport bike.

When auto pilot in a plane fails are we suing programmers? No.....

1. No, they sue the manufacturer of the autopilot, the company that installed the autopilot, the mechanic that serviced the autopilot, the instructor that taught the pilot how to use the autopilot and the kid that washed the airplane that had the autopilot.
2. BTW, autopilots don't crash planes.

Be careful what you wish for. When and if self-driving cars become common it's possible that motorcycles will face prohibitions, maybe become outright illegal for safety reasons.

Is this the same person we saw, or somebody else? What are they operating on in the surgery?
