2pm today, sun Feb 10, 3.5 miles east of the junction.

Sheriff was on scene when I came through, rider was on his back but appeared alert and animated...but I saw lifeflight helicopter circling...maybe SOP for accidents out in the boonies? Fellow rider and sport bike were standing nearby...but no victim's bike...am wondering if he lowsided and bike continued over shoulder and down ravine.

Heal up rider...hope you're okay...ride safe everyone :thumbup

I was out there last weekend and there were a lot of pretty wet/muddy areas and some pretty dirty/gravelly corners as well. I didn't have any issues but the guys behind me reported some sliding in a few places. (PR3s FTW) Anyway, the rain probably didn't help - hope the rider is ok.

When I wrecked they had a helicopter on route just from the 911 call. They called it off once the ambulance arrived and saw I wasn't suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Hope the rider comes out okay.

It's SOP to start a helicopter and cancel if its not needed, if the crash is out in the middle of nowhere

GO!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, is that what happened? A few of us were still at Frank Raines when all the vehicles showed up and asked us to move. They needed to clear room for the helo to land, which never happened. Hope the rider was ok. I didn't notice any bikes, or tow trucks on the way home.

Tim. May have been the rider with us you saw...he was on a blue Yamaha...slid on a gravel patch...broke his collarbone. Otherwise he is fine and his bike was towed out in one of our two sweep trucks on the ride today! Del puerto can eat those bikes up!

If it's gotten to the point where you need two crash trucks on your group rides, it's time to look at how you're conducting the rides themselves.

Saw something on the news last night that there was a car crash on Mt Hamilton on Sunday, and the driver was airlifted out. Might have been for that crash.

I make words too.

The AFM uses one crash truck, but they do use two for Moto GP. Must have been a Moto GP paced group ride.

Useful idiot
Two crash trucks, and two crashers on the group ride. Sounds to me like they know exactly what they are doing. :thumbup

Actually that was for a different incident, a very serious crash with a sports car going over the edge on Mt Hammy road maybe ~7miles up the hill from Alum Rock Rd - I got bhind that one - Sheriff had us turning around and coming down Quimby - at least there was another way down else I'd be backtracking to Livermore :thumbdown

Yeah was only single sheriff when I road through. Where'd you and Lew see the cop? I saw a black/white just as I arrived to the Junction? After starting the descent from Hammy did you guys get re-directed by the sheriff right after Grants Ranch Park? I think I may have seen you two flying by...:teeth

Glad the rider is aokay Patty - was a very mellow, almost surreal scene when I went by...sheriff and other rider were just hanging out, and the injured rider on his back but talking and gesturing with his hands as if he was just taking a rest from standing, but all was good :thumbup Was my first time on Del Pueblo - knarly goaty road in shit condition...no wonder it can eat up riders.

Disagree. I think two sweep trucks for 50 riders out in the boonies is smart, excellent actually. Remember mechanical failures and flat tires can all cause a need for a tow, and depending on the truck, 1-2 bikes and it's full. But yeah, valid observation that if you're having lots of crashes, then group riding procedures/riders need to be looked at.

Glad rider's going to be okay - two folks in the sports car crash were airlifted out with serious injuries...car traveled several hundred feet down the hillside.

This is a group that has a reputation for a high crash rate, hence my remark.
