Suzuki has chosen Randy (last to have led the MotoGP Hamamatsu at the Valencia test two years ago) for the testing of the prototype. The first contact occurred in Japan last Thursday and Friday, while the 17 June, the trans will take to the track in Barcelona together with future opponents.

The test program is still thick and in fact, the day after Suzuki will move to Aragon to continue working together with Honda and Yamaha.

To lead the team, as we had previously announced, will be Davide Brivio that, as revealed by the Spanish Motorcycling was present at Motegi already wearing the colors Suzuki. Regarding the motorcycle, a four-cylinder in-line and no longer at V as the previous one, the exterior reveals little and does not appear too dissimilar to what was seen in the images that are shot in recent years. Nothing revolutionary technical solutions, with a 'classic' aluminum perimeter frame and swingarm with reinforcement truss bottom is astounding care and finishes.

Speedweek has also published the unofficial times of the day. Randy De Puniet was the fastest with a best time of 1'47 ", identical to the Honda test driver Takumi Takahashi, slower than the other tester on the Production Racer Kousuke Akiyoshi (1'47" 93). For a comparison, last year Jorge Lorenzo had taken pole position of the GP with a time of 1'44 "969, while De Puniet with Art had stopped the clock at 1'47" 581. At the same time, the Yamaha test rider Nakasuga had turned in 1'46 "780.

That first photo. It has a frown like it knows what RDP is going to do to it. Also a bit of excitement like it's never gone so fast.

Holy shit! Really didn't think the Suzuki would be as fast as the ART bike in the first-ever proper test.

Look out, Ducati....;)

No? It's not like they JUST came back, they had. A motogp presence for years, and a lomg relationship with Bridgestone. They've only been out less than two seasons....

They really only missed one season before building a new bike.

I was wondering the exact same thing. New kind if suspension linkage involved?

Haven't checked Twitterverse yet, particularly Spalding's lately, but I'll keep an eye out on the verdict on that. I'm not even sure if it's just at the bottom spar, or same with the main spar.

Controlled flex, maybe?

Can't tell if it's an actual bolt-together section, or just a hollowed-out spot in the swingarm. Certainly unique-looking though, if I may use three hyphenated phrases in one post.

I'm thinking maybe the back half of the swingarm bolts on, so they can quick-change to play with different lengths and flex while in development. Seems a stretch though.

There is definitely a bolt through, and that looks like a rear suspension linkage dog bone coming from behind the lower fairing, and right into where the bolt hole is on the spar. Of course, it may not be the dog bone, or part of the rear suspension linkage at all, but it's definitely a component bolted on.
