So there's a cafe in SF called the 20th Century Cafe and it's not cheap but their food is first rate and their patries and cakes the same. The lady who runs the place dresses in 1950s style and has some nice tattoos and I got her book as mentioned for my birthday. I should have read the recipe in advance because while not complex was not standing but behold....layered coconut cake with marmalade between the cake and covered in a home made chocolate glaze.

once I saw her spread the dough on the whole table and overflow at the edge of the table near the floor.. apparently as it is old-school in europe. forgot what she was making, rugelachs or other kneaded breads.

I think the farmers market in Novato is open 4-8. The hours suck and it's all during rush hour. Lemme check out our local market here in Sacto on Sundays.
