We did something different for a good friend of ours who lost her doggo after 11 years. She has always had dogs, but this one was extra special, she was closer to this one than ever before. Here is a picture of the painting and the original photo we used. This service did a great job.

EDIT: It won't let me post the photo because it looks the same as the painting, but just know it looks great. :)

Paintings do evoke more feelings than a photograph especially when it is something personal. Don't know why but they do.... Now I don't get the same reaction from say landscape photography versus paintings it is the other way photo is way better.

BTW those are both awesome paintings guys...

There's truth here, to a point, but don't discount the power of raw surface area. Good pictures made big have power.

There was a guy long ago that had a gallery on Pier 39 of his landscaper photography. You know, big, calendar Grand Teton stuff, and his stuff absolutely was, literally, breathtaking.

There is certainly something to the photographers eye, the lighting, etc. But it was some very nice stuff.

In high school we took a 2+ week trip up and down California. 20+ kids with 35mm cameras locked and loaded with Kodachrome.

When we got back, we had stacks of carousels of slides to go through for a final show. There was some real junk on those slides (I know, I took some of them), but some real majesty when they displayed up on a 10 foot screen.

You let 20 kids loose at Pt. Lobos, you're going to get something nice out of it, but still, not bad for a bunch of untrained high schoolers.

I have an irrational desire to own one of these, not the all matchy one, just a scout.

I have beyond no reason to own one, but it's on my "lust" list.

That's how it was for me also. I was at Old West in El Cerrito doing paperwork for an LC9 and he had this behind the counter. Brand new and for 50% less than MSRP. I couldn't say no!

Congrats on the M14, very nice piece.
Qualified Expert with it in Basic and AIT. Got to use the M21 variant with the Starlight scope on a few "outings". Effective range with the Starlight was about 25 out to 80-85 yards. Beyond that clear target acquisition wasn't the best. The M16 was the daily carry, but always liked shooting the M14/M21's.
It's one of those on the lust to have list, but not on the absolutely have to have list anymore.

One of those things (the surge protector) you think you don't need until you need it. Then you are in big $$$$ trouble. I survived for 15 years without one my last class C. I think I am done gambling. I have looked at these and there's a lot of them. I recently had 30 amp service put on the side of my pool house for the trailer hook up. I need one for my trailer now and when I get my new Coachmen 22.

Can you say why you chose that one?

Reading the reviews and the video below. The new Class B has something that's called Firewire and controls everything and works with Bluetooth. Way too many electronics to not have protection.

I haven't looked into it specifically, but I have considered exploring whether a whole house surge protector makes sense.

With modern appliances, TVs, and even LED lighting, I think the house is much more surge vulnerable than not, in contrast to the past where we'd typically protect just the computer or something else sensitive.

Especially given we have a bunch of built in appliances, and I couldn't even tell you where the power cord is. Buried in a wall somewhere to be sure.
