The front tire is about $120 I think (offered FREE right now with this promo). $25 shipping is required. So, what we're really saving is the $90 some dollars. And that is after we've spent another $190 or so on the rear tire.

For someone who is need of tires, this sounds like a good deal. But for someone who just bought a new rear tire, and doesn't need the front tire anytime soon....what he gonna do with these 2 tires. You can store them for a year or so, when you'll need them. But considering the storage space & hassle... is it really worth it ? Just a question for some feedback.

Here is an e-mail I just recieved from Pirelli about the promotion:

Thank you for participating in our Pirelli "Fly into Summer" Angel GT Promotion. We have had an overwhelming response to this promotion....the power of Social Media! We are thrilled. We will need your patience while we process these free tire claims which came in very quickly!

In response to many questions we have received, we wanted to clarify the process for everyone to understand. You can go to www.getpirelli.com and check the status of your claim at any time by logging in with your email address and password.

If you have received a Claim ID# - we have reserved a tire for you. Even though the promotion supply has been depleted.
After we receive and validate your Proof Of Purchase your status will be changed from "Submitted" to "POP-Valid". Note that orders are processed during normal business hours in the order they were received.
Once we have had a chance to process all the orders, you will receive an email with a store link and coupon code to claim your free front tire. Follow those instructions to claim your tire. You will need to provide credit card information for the $25 shipping fee.
Once you order your free front tire, you will then receive another email with the tracking information for your tire. Your status will be changed from POP-Valid to Shipped. Please allow 2-4 weeks for these orders to be processed.

Thank you again for your participation. The Pirelli Team.

The inquiry is moot as the Promotion allotment of 250 tires has depleted.

I think that a $25 dollar front tire is an excellent deal. You would have to pay the $120 for the tire and then shipping on top of that. I mount my own tires so I'm good there. Plus I commute on my bike so I don't have to worry about long term storage. Any money saved works for me. Promotion is over so no need to worry about it anymore.

Good! You know that crazy feeling you have sometimes....not sure if you're doing the right thing by passing up on a deal....or if you really SHOULD get it, and later not regret it.

I don't have to worry now... haha..

P.S: Just got a Michelin 2CT rear about a month ago (200 miles on it). Front is Dunlop, but wanna switch over to Michelin when it's time to change the front.

I put about 20k a year on my commute bike so this is a money saver for sure. Hopefully it'll last longer than the first gen Angel I had.

gone for now
They claim 15% better life than the Angel ST IIRC. The pair I have is lasting pretty well on my SV1000 streetfighter.

Those Angel ST's have had a pretty good life on my Zx10r, I'd say about average for my bike and riding style, about 7k miles or so... Commuting to work is what killed em, although they're still mostly kinda round... looking forward to the Angel GT's..

I'm looking forward to trying them out. Getting 2-3k miles out of BT-016/S20s was starting to get tiresome :laughing

dont forget this while on pirelli tires: soon as you get to the wear bars....it will wear to expose cords within a couple hundred miles

I have done this a few times

Yep. I also have experience with this.

It looked used up, but OK for a couple commutes when I got back from a Sunday ride. Then on Monday it looked like this when I got to work. I elected to get a ride home and drive my truck the next day to retrieve it.

Wow, you got better mileage out of the Angel STs on your ZX10R than I did on my SV650. Impressive.

I don't get out much... :twofinger and splitting lanes most of the time isn't really much of a trying commute. if anything I figure not commuting / splitting would be much better for these things.
