Re Tired Not Dead
Lawdy lawdy lawdy...this is a perfect thread for those of us who are known as "Squidicus Sandbagerus". (Translation: Sandbagging Squid or Riderus Experiencus)

I've always gotten a giggle out of hustling my ginormous adv bike past the wee sprotbiles while sitting serenely upright with my heated gear on and my Stanley Turentine tunes playing along in my earpieces.
It kinda goes - spy young virgin squid on GSXR6xrblevinty / snick / roll / snick / roll / wave politely > Grin gently in helmet.

Rinse - Lather - Repeat

I passed that guy a few weeks back. He was out there dragging knee like a pro and I waltzed by him on my 1998 Ninja 250 sitting stark upright listening to Mozart.

Probably a local. We ride these roads every day. Try it on a weekday morning coming from boulder creek. Little office moms in beat up camry's that will humble you right quick,

Some times you have to think about the old guys and give them a little extra space.
So they can rail by you!
In a safe manner!

Useful idiot
I'm always amused by folks who think that knee down = fast. A fellow can have his knee down, be moving at a good clip and still have a bunch in reserve. Just as another rider can be going much more slowly and sitting dead center might be near the edge of his skill limit. My speed on the street is governed primarily by sightlines and conditions, and I tend to leave quite a bit in the bank, in case there are unexpected obstacles. That said, my 75-80% is someone else's 50%, just as it would be close to, or over, 100% for someone else.

In short: unless the guy looked unstable, out of control, or uncomfortable with the speed he was going, I wouldn't worry about it.

I was up north on comptche ukiah road following this old beat to hell Subi outback. This little old lady picked up the pace to straight Indy car speeds... I was riding at my limit and she was pulling away on corner exit.

:wow

I have seen some really shit, unsteady riding where guys are trying to drag knee while completely blowing their lines. :facepalm

Nothing is funnier than a dude looking like a chicken wing when his bike is only leaned 10 degrees

"Century Club" guys. 2 -3 of em on GS and one on a Tuono IIRC. Chill dudes and ride like bats out of hell. They are kind of a known entity up there on weekdays.

I have met one of them and invited to some of their rides. I think they do Ojai and back in a day. Seems crazy to me. I too have been passed like I was standing still.

Boney,

I camp up behind a wing nut like that on Sweeper Madness in Torrey pulling a trailer! I had to work pretty hard on the old RT to get around him. The dude was moving :ride

Sez the policeman after I pulled off my helmet; "You're too old to be riding like that, promise to slow down and I'll just give you a warning."

Me, as I attempt not to laugh aloud, "Yessir, officer, you are giving me good advice."
