North bay day ride suggestions

I have done this one few times and going to do it again this week:

Lucas Valley Road > Nicasio Valley Road > Point Reyes > 1 south> Panoramic Road/Hwy > 1 south and back home to east bay

You all have any other suggestions? I can do unpaved as long it is not too gnarly. This will be a day ride, like 7am-6pm thing.

Well, if you want to add some more milage (like 85 more), from Point Reyes Station, go up to Valley Ford, take the fork to Occidental, go into Monte Rio, hang a left on 116 (along Russian River), and when you get to 1 just head back south.

So many great roads in Marin and Sonoma (and Mendo and Humboldt).

The general area between Petaluma and the coast has a lot of fun little roads, which are mentioned just up there ^^^- watch out for bicycles and deer though. It’s hard to get lost; just remember that the fog is west.

If you want a really gnarly (but paved) ride, check out the road from Fort Ross to Cazadero.

If you want a stretch w/o pavement, you could try Fish Rock Rd, which runs from 128, south of Boonville, to the coast. I haven’t ridden it myself, but I’m sure someone here has.

That road from Ross to Cazadero is littered with huge pot holes and one lane construction zones right now. Looks like it could be amazing if they can make the proper road repairs soon.

Looked at the map and seems like it will be a nice detour to take. Thank you

I didn’t know that - haven’t ridden it in a while. Thanks for the info.

Not a huge fan of the Bohemian Highway up through Occidental - very rough and lots of deer. Although if you DO go up that way, go to Cazadero, and check out the Jeeps.

The main point for using the Bohemian Highway is to avoid the cluster operations of Bodega Bay and suburbs. Otherwise, I agree with you despite the fact that it is classified as G3 on the Butler Motorcycle Map..

Bohemian is not bad at all... Maybe the occasional group of cyclist (which I found to be more dangerous and unpredictable than deer), other than that, it's a great road.

Check out Bay Hill Rd if you want to avoid the town of Bodega Bay. A bit goaty but not too bad and the view from the top is first class.

I have my route mapped out till Cazadero based on your suggestions.
From Cazadero I see there are two options, take Fort Ross Rd to 1 or King Ridge Road to 1, which one should I take ?

Both are similar as far as condition goes with one way traffic at some spots but both roads are open per https://roadclosures-sonomacounty.hub.arcgis.com/

You should check out both, but if you could only do one, take King Ridge Rd farther north (toward Tin Barn Rd / Hauser Bridge Rd junction.) King Ridge Rd has both twisty fun and dramatic ridge top scenic views.
