Motorcycles Ruined My Life

Can't say that nothing else brings me happiness but I can say with 100% certainty that every spare minute I have outside of work and family life I want to spend doing something related to motorcycles. I've only been riding ~2 years; part of me regrets not discovering the wonderful world of MC's sooner and another part of me is just so happy to have eventually found them!

On a vaguely related note... I had some time to myself last Friday and obviously went for a ride. In the 6.5 hours I was out, I was physically riding for over 5.5 hours which to friends and colleagues seems strange but to me makes perfect sense. Why take a day off to ride only to find yourself taking a long lunch, stopping for another coffee etc etc?!

Who else feels the same?
On the one hand, I love nearly everything about riding; the community, the experience, the memories, the friends I've made

It took the other hand so the positives win by default

Riding All The Time
I sometimes wonder if motorcycles have saved my life, or ruined my life.
Soooo much time, money, risk and focus spent on motorcycling. What might have I become without this distraction?
Then I quickly dismiss this discussion in my head. It doesn't matter and I'm quite certain motorcycling has always been the thing I can count on to keep me happy/sane.

Ever since being introduced to motorcycles, nothing else brings me happiness in life.

Who else feels the same?

You might try sex sometime, for comparison purposes, of course.

I would suggest some others, but the BARF Morality Committee...

Aside from motorcycles and 3PM naps, I'm not sure. If I had to give up one, it would be a hard choice.

To be honest, I love walking my dog, riding bicycles, working out, lounging on the boulevard, and reading.

Sex doesn't come close to a 100mph side-by-side wheelie into the sunset with your best friend.

Okay, it's up there, but still not the best.

Ruined my life? Dude, you need to generate some better Karma.

Because I showed up for a job interview on a very, very nicely turned out R 100 RS the job was mine. The interviewer rode a KZ 1100 D. (And the guy that hired me is still a very good friend twenty years later.)

And also because, later on in a different company, the motorcycle I had was the result of my efforts mechanically and aesthetically the company owner gave me the entire maintenance division to run.

Ruined my life? Nope! Opened doors and paved a progression of good times.

I feel like I HAVE a life because of motorcycles!

Now, from a typical "American" lifestyle/dream kind of perspective maybe they "ruined" my life, but that's not the life I have ever wanted.

Motorcycles provide my sanity, a release, a social circle, a group of friends, a group of good friends, weekend activities, and a passion I would have never dreamed of finding.

My only regret is that I didn't get into motorcycles and racing MUCH earlier in life - doing this as a middle-class old fart who has to pay my own bills instead of mommy and daddy helping out sure sucks sometimes!! :laughing

my grandparents decided to give me a pretty outrageous amount of money this past Christmas. It'll pay the bills for racing (supermoto, at an amateur level, rather than trying to be competitive in AFM etc)
