My dad says the only thing that is close (or better) than motorcycles is flying sailplanes. I can see it, but the accessibility of motorcycles is a big factor.

Whoa...can not even imagine not riding...would have been a bit boring for me. Grew up on bikes since 5....told the lady I love our kids will ride too as they grow so if we wanna get married...just the way it is baby...and she said "hell ya!" move over and let me ride LOL!

I've had many hobbies in life. Many. After becoming proficient at them, I often get bored. I realize I've hit the top of being a hobbyist and would have to devote a HUGE part of my life to it to go much further. But I am usually bored enough at that point, I've seen the top of the hill, and don't care to do the extra work to go further. Some can do one thing for fun (like, say, golf) and never get bored. I get bored.
Except with motorcycles. "Motorcycle" was one of the first words out of my mouth. Never tire of them or learning about them. Or, just looking at them. And I like them all. Scooters included.
I'll go periods without one. But one always finds its way to me. They are dangerous and require full attention at all times and I think this is what intrigues me most. I don't like thinking about responsibilities and this dope helps me not focus on it, lol.
