Its so odd how Mav and Vale are totally opposite. Mav sucks at the start of the race on the M1 and then his pace drastically picks up in the later stages of the race. Vale is a demon straight from when the red lights go out up until about 10 laps into the race and then he drops off drastically. It was almost like a mirror from when mav was in 10th at the start then was in first when Vale dropped from 1st to 10th. I dont think Rossi's time is past him, but I do think that the state of the M1 right now is doing him no favors...especially in the power and tire management category.

It was fun seeing Aprilia being competitive and I am totally rooting for male model/Instagram sensation/australian wildlife magnet, Andrea Iannone to do well, but i really just feel like its another manufacturer to split the points up among the other factories so Marquez can win more championships.

Its insane how Marquez has made watching motogp simultaneously boring and exciting at the same time. The practice sessions are exciting because of his saves and the races boring as hell because of how he races and the looming foregone conclusion that he is going to win. His dominance is about as good for motogp as Johnny Rea's dominance is for wsbk.

I am happy to have the first aussie on the podium at PI since Stoner, but even Miller knows that it was a bullshit result that he inherited because Mav screwed up trying to override his bike keeping up with Marc. Miller has been really impressive this year on the Duc and i wouldnt mind seeing him take over Danillo's spot.

Speaking of Petrux, that crash was brutal and even worse that Fabio was caught up in the melee. His bike was literally knocked over by Petruci's body flying through the air. crazy crash.

Personally, i have zero hype left for the next two races. These past few years have seemed to suck the life out of the series. We went from having a new winner every damn race to it being already decided before the bikes even see the track. All of this seems to coincide with Dorna selling the series to that private holdings group. I hope they figure something out because I am on the verge of going from a motogp fanatic to a casual fan

Edit: sorry for the wall of text. i didnt realize i typed that much ahaha

Bridgepoint, owners of Dorna Sports, sold Dorna to itself in a bit of financial chicanery which increased value and complied with regulations about how long an asset of this type can be owned by a private equity firm. Nothing happened that changed anything about who is in charge of Dorna or how it operates.

Some explanations can be found in this post from Asphalt and Rubber.

Yeah I guess correlation doest constitute causation and all that but it just seemed like the timeline of when gp became something of a boring procession, a la F1, aligns with when they showed the public how much they're worth and how much growth they have been experiencing.

Lorenzo reports having issues with his neck injury due to the windy nature of Phillip Island.

https://www.motociclismo.es/mundial-motogp/articulo/jorge-lorenzo-ni-quiero-cambiar-el-equipo-ni-hemos-tenido-ningun-problema-tecnico

He sufrido mucho. Además del sufrimiento físico, nunca he tenido buenas sensaciones ni seguridad en todo el fin de semana y especialmente en la carrera.

Quartararo almost crashed himself out. He was about to coast into the grass after that rear end snap when he was taken out by flying Petrux. FQ’s race was already over at that point.

Rossi's holeshot made me happy.
But sadly, he's no longer the sharp end of the stick.

Entertaining? Bud, he had a faster bike and just sat behind Vinales for lap after lap after lap. There was nothing entertaining about it. To Rossi's credit, when he was faster, he would still battle back and forth. MM just sat there for the entire race, motored past it on the straight, and threw down a single lap. Never gave Vinales any real time to observe his riding.

Brutally efficient? Absolutely. It was 100% the best winning strategy.. but it made for some absolutely garbage quality racing, if you could even call it that.

First race I tune in to watch in a long time... Should have have known better than to waste my time on another MM bore-fest.

Dont watch then bird boy. Pretty simple yeah?

He was off line because of a screw up (probably cold tires) but I'm not convinced that he was destined for the kitty litter

I think the best parts of the weekend were,
Kangaroo jumping across track in front of ImaPony
Marquez massive save at the bottom of Lukey Heights
Marquez massive save in turn 1 at over 150 mph
Rossi leading , briefly
The race for 4th.

Fabio was definitely going to be in the grass but he wasn't going to end up in the gravel. Looking back, it would've been awesome to see him plow through the crowd in an attempt to get back up front. MM's saves were unbelievable once again. The 100+ lowside just left me shaking my head.

That Yamaha can carry some serious corner speed. Viñales closed like 3 bike lengths to the apex before that high side.

does it rly count if he crashed :laughing

Mav had tons of speed through that corner when the rear tire was fresh. but MM's pressure all race def roasted that tire.

Not as fast as I look.
If it wasn't for Marc Marquez they would have pulled it off. :rolleyes

OMG. Not only is Rossi the greatest racer of any kind, but he is Mother Teresa in leathers. He slowed down to let other racers have a good time and make the fans happy. Yeah, right. :rofl

Same story as the last story. Yamaha would have won, except they don't have Marc Marquez. I really am not a manufacturer fan, so I don't get all the Yamaha rooting. Although, I suppose I want Aprilia to do better, because they are small and have a good race history.

Rossi did the stalk and pounce so often it provoked eye rolls here.

that he did. ive actually praised Rossi for it in relation to the prev Aliens, because its a ton more entertaining than pulling away for the entire race.

I'm cool with MM winning races like this, for now. PI was cool for me because the excitement of the early party got me through the boring middle. And his move and Mavs crash was more excitement. BUT im near my limit for MM wins and if he wins in the same way every damn time, I will pull my hair out.
