MOTOGP 2011-Sepang, Malaysia. Preseason Test 2/1

i only see 2 situations here that will be a positive for Hopper's career:
1. he gets to race the bike for a few rounds AND does better than Bautista
2. he doesnt get to touch the bike, but for the supposed PR work at Qatar

IMO, anything else will just lead to disappointment, hurting his chances for a ride in 2012

I think Dennings' POV is more elaborate.

I don't know how much the GSV-R has improved since 2007, or if it's improved at all, but Hopkins is no stranger to the current era of GP bikes. He had a relatively stellar year to get 4th in the points championship in 2007, putting the GSV-R on the podium three times, and finishing within the top five nine times out of the 18 rounds, with only two finishes outside of the top ten.

To date, his is still Suzuki's best finish in points championship with their 800cc GSV-R.

Maybe you can chalk it up to Suzuki's development up to the inaugural year to be just enough to be the best rest of the grid, cause since then the rest of the grid then kept getting the formula right while Suzuki got stuck in a development valley (think Ducati). After all, 2007 was also their best team campaign in the current era of GP, with Vermulean finishing in points at 6th. It's only gotten worse since then.

If Hopkins does get to do a good number of laps during the Qatar test, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't go faster than a good number of the grid, having been away for three years, which includes injuries. However, I also wouldn't be surprised if he does; in his five years with Suzuki in GP, their first year with the 800cc was also Hopper's best year with them.

Don't you think its about time Suzuki replace their old cammy hit I4 with a
production version of their GSVR???

Cameron Donald rides the GSVR Suzuki at the IOM and states thats
the BEST bike he has ever ridden...

Loris Capirossi may a have rode a GSX-R 1000 for a parade lap at the
Isle of Man, but his Suzuki GSV-R MotoGP machine that he used during
the Qatar GP to celebrate his 300th grand prix race was given to TT
rider Cameron Donald for a spin around the mountain course.

A spin isn’t exactly the right word, because Donald put the 800cc
prototype through a fast lap and hit a top speed of 325km/h (202 mph)
down the Sulby straight and to put things into perspective, HM Plant’s
Keith Amor in the Senior TT with a Honda CBR 1000RR did 310 km/h
(192.8 mph)

Here’s what Donald had to say:”Man, that was just amazing! I thought
the bike would be really difficult and twitchy to ride, but it was
great. I was expecting to ride a steady lap, but it was so good that I
was able to get a great rhythm going and pick up a fast pace.

“In fact, it was so good, I reckon we need to get some regulation
changes for next year, as this thing with a few more laps on it, would
really fly here.”

Imagine if he had ridden a Yamaha M1. :laughing

I can imagine him on the M1 but the I4 is the widest engine possible which
aerodynamically speaking is not what you want in the quest for the greatest top
speed over the 36 miles of the IOM TT...

BLS, why are you turning so slow with those full size V4's of yours. time to turn fast with a 3/4 scale V4. http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6383657&postcount=629

Slow is good... I need to tone down my riding or loose my license...

Fucking christ. Are you retarded or something?

You have turned someone who really appreciated the V4 into someone who hates it. Proud of yourself?
