Moto evades police

A few years ago, a moto rider I know was riding to Tahoe and got popped for evading. His bike has no mirrors and he was listening to music (I think both things are retarded btw). Truth is he never actually ran, he just didn't know the cop was following him for a couple miles.

He got locked up when he did finally stop. The cop did not believe that he wasn't running.

I would think that the police are used to this. I've been on ride alongs and have been behind several cars at night while running code three and people did not pull over to let the police go by, people are oblivious at times. Unless the moto was doing something substantial, like increased speeds and weaving through traffic, I would hope they would understand. My mirrors on my Duc are horrible and I can't see anything behind me.

Similar happened to me:

I listen to music and my mirrors are useless (stock mirrors.. ugh.. I only see my elbows in them. And they vibrate so damn hard that even if I saw anything else - it'd be vibrating too much for me to make out wtf Im looking at) and apparently this motocop followed me for ~3 miles with sirens, with me completely oblivious. He believed me though, because I was only going 9mph over the whole time, haha

A while back I looked out my Oakland apartment window and saw a M.C. going about 25 MPH with 4 cruisers in "pursuit". I almost yelled "Come on man, you're not even trying!"

Apparently not. We drove an hour each way to bail his ass out.

if you get breaks when you DO stop then you should be thankful. If no one ran they would not feel the same way when stopping you. So as long as they keep getting away and not crashing it sounds like a pretty good situation to me.

My thoughts exactly. With enough dumb people around I'm a genius. With enough outlaws around I'm a perfect law-abiding citizen.

Cloverdale has a few police cars but being right on the sonoma county line there is not much of a county sheriff presence there. Wouldn't be hard to get away. Sure is alot of bad motorcycle Press right now between the runners and thieves.

Sorry Forrest, didn't mean to exclude you. But I thought better than to accuse you of this. I'm sure you would have gotten away also :)

i got pulled over by 2 sergeants here in the city a while back. i guess runnin it up close to redline in 1st gear between lights will get their attention:teeth

i'm sittin at the light and i notice the car(suv)behind me is reeeeaalllllyy close. i kinda half turn to check out whoo the douchenozzle is and hey whatta you know, that there's a police vehicle. light goes to green and their lights go on...half way through the intersection i turn the ignition off via the key(you know, so they see that the bike is off and i am cooperating)

they get out as i dismount and i see not six stripes but twelve and go "fuck!!!"

i say 'hey sarg how's it goin?' one looks at me and says 'do i know you?' i say no and hand over my license then they look at each other and shrug their shoulders and say

"ahhhh, no fun! you didn't even run!" :wtf hand me back my license and tell me to take it easy between the lights:thumbup

Some times I think they want you to run so they can have some fun chasing :ride

There is lots of vineyard property to cut through and a few levee roads to take to get away. So no surprise he got away. I wonder if the Sonoma Sheriff Dirtbike cops will patrol the area for a while now.

Don't know if you saw this in the paper but the dirtbike patrol was up around Lake Sonoma the last couple days looking for some drunk that wandered away from a wedding party & passed out/got lost. They had a helicopter out looking for the stupid asshole too. :laughing

I hope they send him a six figure bill.

I remember they were looking for a drunk wedding person a couple weeks ago. Did this happen again? Last time the guy slept off his drunkenness over something like 14 hours and he found his way back I think.

If someone drinks a little too much and gets bored of the stupid wedding and decides to walk away for a nap, why the hell should they pay for a "rescue" if someone else thought they "got lost"? Person who called for help should pay.

:wtf Was he a prisoner at the wedding?

Im not sure it works like that..

Different situation but similar:
Awhile back (like 10 years ago) I had an accident and the end result was I was laying out on the road passed out. When I came to, I was in an ambulance.

I didnt ask to be in an ambulance. If they waited 5 more minutes or so I would have regained consciousness all on my own and just walked away. But now I got stuck with a bill for the ambulance ride, and a bill for this and a bill for that.. I didn't ask for any of it! They scooped me up all on their own. But regardless I got stuck with all these bills.

Its probably similar to the rescue thing: they'll rescue you whether or not you want it :laughing

The general assumption is that if someone is unconscious, he or she would want help, if needed, hence the ambulance ride.

It's hit or miss on the wedding guest: The folks that called thought there was a legitimate emergency and the guy wasn't trying to pull any hinkey shit. So there was no mal intent; then again, choppers are expensive to run. About 15 years ago, I was volunteering w/SJSAR and spent an evening looking for a dude that got into a drunken fight with his GF during a hike. He stormed off; she went home. After several hours, he didn't return home, so she called 911 who called us, which led to me wandering the trails at 2am yelling "Dave!" to no avail. Dave, of course, was not here. The next morning, we learned that he went and crashed at a buddy's house. I could have used that sleep.
