You know what pisses me off about all these articles that say:
"Still, motorcyclists account for a disproportionate share of traffic fatalities, and they are about 37 times more likely to be killed than those traveling in passenger cars."
Hmm I wonder why that is? Because I dont have a FUCKING CAR PROTECTING ME. Jesus who hires these people? I'm guessing a journalism degree takes about as much knowledge as going to a Barnes and Nobles and picking up
Journalism for Dummies. This seriously pisses me off and its not even the main point of the article.
Safety Features on a Motorcycle:
- Helmet
- Leathers
- My skill as a rider
Safety Features on/in a vehicle:
- Airbags
- "Crumple Zones" (Or whatever they call them)
- Seat Belts
- Steel/Aluminum/TONS OF PLASTIC
- The Car Itself
- Warning Sensors
- Early Warning Radar
- If you own a BMW it has auto-pilot these days
Also, why the fuck does it matter that Motorcycle deaths offset seatbelt/vehicle safety features and the lives they have saved? What's the connection? How do they link in any sense? They are two completely different issues and cannot be tackled in the same way at all. In fact they don't really matter in my opinion.
Another thing, I'm so fucking glad we are spending $2.4million on a study to understand motorcycle crashes. Let me give you the causes of "accident" on motorcycles:
It Usually boils down to one of these:
- Stupid Rider
- Stupid Driver
- Bad Rider
- Bad Driver
Give me the $2.4million thanks.
Quick fact: Motorcycles are more dangerous then cars and probably always will be. The only thing that can make motorcycles more safe short of iron man armor is the skill of a rider coupled with smarter/safer drivers.
