KTM R16 GP

So, with the current success of KTM in MotoGP, does anyone think they will ever sell a street replica of the MotoGP bike ? Perhaps a Dani Pedrosa issue.

Discuss...

I am just surprised KTM is in GP to begin with.
It seems they made a point to back away from large displacement performance road bikes several years ago.
I still want a RC8, btw.

Recedite, plebes!
Weren't they going to release a limited production run of the R16 starting back in 2017?

Yeah, it is interesting they're in GP. Surprised they just didn't stick with dirt. But their competitive now in GP so hopefully they stick around.

It's funny they stopped selling large displacement sport bikes out of public safety concern. But they still sell a 1300cc v-twin with 180bhp but somehow it's safer because it has bars instead of clip-ons? I guess the position on sport bikes isn't as safe in regards to vision as nakeds (i.e. Pike's Peak take on it). Maybe they'll realize this strange view and deliver some homologation special at some point.

Maybe KTM is waiting for more success in MotoGP to relaunch a large street superbike. Their first MotoGP win was only two months ago. But it is strange to race in a top tier, with all the resources that takes, and not sell in that category.

Definitely don't see a Pedrosa replica? As a development rider? Would the ergonomics be for a tiny person?

Perhaps, but there should be a button on the dash that turns you in to a complete asshole, especially to your teammates.

Yeah I don't get the decision. "ready to race" but we aint gonna sell a race bikes except widdle ones.

Really happy to see KTM being competitive in GP right now though. Just wish we had a RC9 or RC16 rep, something.

I been eyeing the RC8 int he sale section.

:wow You can't be buying no RC8, you need a front tire and probably brake pads too!

eyeing is free bruh :laughing

And thanks for reminding me to check the pads before I take off the front wheel. I ordered some Rosso III's this morning. I really did like the those S22's I had. Even with the wear being so far down the front end still gives good grip. No sharp fall off in grip like the q2's. I just wanted to try the new rosso for the fuck of it.

This thread is weird.

KTM's been selling large displacement street bikes for a while now - they have had one on the market for years now, it is called a "Super Duke", and is 1301ccs.

Their Adventure/ sport touring lineup (1290 SAS, 1290 SDGT, 1290 SA R) are are also 1301ccs.

Have y'all just been not aware of this?

Or is it because they don't make a literbike supersport that it's off your radar? KTM's had a streetbike initiative for many years now, and they're targeting BMW specifically.

I feel like this isn't news, but I'm kind of a KTM fanboy.

Dedicated high performance sport bike. That's what this thread is about. Dedicated high performance sport bike.
Harley makes big street bikes too. As soon as they pop up on a MotoGP grid I'll bet there'll be a thread about it.

The Super Duke R is not a dedicated high performance sport bike because it has bars and no fairings? Okay.

Sure it would do just fine for a track day but I mean you wouldn't see it in WSBK would you?

NOPE...KTM pull the RC8 off the line up because it was to much for the average rider and it was no where near a WSBK let alone MOTOGP

Times have a changed. I think they could take their MotoGP know how and make a strong WSBK bike contender if they were so inclined. I just wish they were inclined.
