Here is a (crappy) photo I took at Calistoga in 2010 of the Kawasaki. The frame is either heavily modified stock Ninja 650 frame or a custom using some of the same mounting points. The bike Smith has been riding since 2012 (see below) is a full custom frame...and a really beautiful bike.

And note where their feet are...On the Pegs :thumbup

You know what, there is no feeling better then when you learn to do a full lock feet on the pegs ride it through. Touch your knee :rofl no comparison.

Serious, part of what I am trying to do on www.flattrackers.com is bring new fan blood to a sport that once experienced will wonder why they never came to a Mile or Half Mile. The art of Slideways is far more technical and takes years and many bun bruises and elbow rashes to perfect.

That's the way I felt the first time I went to a national. Budman's shoulder was black and blue from me beating on it during the races, and he was deaf in one ear from my shouting!!! :laughing :party

Welcome to the brotherhood.

If you ever can, I would suggest doing a super camp when it is back in town or area. Using CR150's they teach you the basics and you will have the time of your life. I remember a question asked to Mert Lawwell all I can do is paraphrase it but it was like this

Mert How do you learn how to broad slide? Merts answer was classic
Besides busting your ass and getting tired of it, you go in circles a lot until you get it right.

I learned on the fire roads of Loma Preta in the 70's on my Bultaco's. It was legal to ride summit road form Loma to 152. Hardpack to peat gravel it had it all and if you have a dual sport is still the best place in the planet to learn.

I appreciate and support what your doing, and bringing this exposure to BARF.

I know that feeling of the full lock, feet on the pegs, steer with the throttle, slide....Everything is in perfect harmony and balance, like magic and reality embraces.

this is getting to be a way-cool, OG M4M.....

our own R1-Limited's luv for FT is echoing pretty strong here

I keep telling Bob Bellino to come up with a "Greybeard brings a noob" bargain ticket 2-pac - it'll FILL the seats & continue his local resurrection of AMA Pro "Nationals"

thanx to John

every BARFer should be exposed to The Sacramento Mile & The Santa Rosa Mile

ZERO sarcasm intended, kind Sir

you are a prince of race fans!

Bob and his team at Circle Bell are the ones who deserve the honors. They have been relentless at promoting Flat Track and bring it back to California.

All we can do is honor them and go :)

Flat Tracking was the best time of my teenage life, I will never forget the friends and fun we all had back then. The least I can do is try to educate folks on the greatest racing to date. :thumbup
