I don't know who does and doesn't receive the e-mail blast about the race schedule of events, but everyone should know. If it is important stuff, those that are not on the e-mail list for some reason they too should have this information.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AFM members, please read all below. This message contains details on our Sonoma May 3-4th round, class sponsors, and club sponsors that have signed on as well as a few changes in track procedures. This is important stuff! Stay tuned for more info to follow as it’s finalized.

We are proud and honored to be included in what many hope will be a historic event and series for national road racing in the United States. The AFM was picked as the first club to be included in the GEICO Superbike Shootout presented by Yamaha and has worked with the promoter, Team Hammer, since its inception.

Things are going to be a bit tight, a bit high energy and one of the coolest experiences many of us will have in our racing careers! Please thank the AFM Board and workers for their dedication and hard work making this all happen for the club and for all of you!

NEW INFORMATION:

· Gate entry to Sonoma in May: 2 for 1 with 2014 AFM license before 9AM Saturday entry. Arrive before 9AM Saturday with your AFM license and receive a 2 for 1 entry through the gate. This applies to Friday as well. You must show your AFM 2014 hard card to take advantage of this offer. After 9am, the gate fee is $25 per person for the weekend, no exceptions.

· Garages: Garages for the May 3-4th Sonoma round will be very limited to AFM racers. Most of the garages will be occupied by Factory support Pro Superbike and Pro Sportbike teams in an effort to duplicate the look and feel of past Pro events at Sonoma. As Pro teams are still being added to the event, garages for AFM’ers will be assigned very close to the event date and may even be assigned on Friday night. Ed Lloyd has a list of those who are on the waiting list for garages.

· Event paddock and arrival time: We are able to move into the paddock at 5PM Friday, however AHRMA will likely still be packing up from their event in the paddock. Expect 6PM or so to be the earliest the AFM will be able to start loading the paddock. Paddock space will be very limited. In an effort to organize this, AFM Tech and Sonoma Staff will help direct Vendors, AFM Racers, and Pro racers to their appropriate pit areas. AFM pits will be organized with racers pitting in rows and nose to tail. Space will be very limited so please work with the paddock chiefs (tech and assigned) to make this an easy process. We may, or may not, be able to accommodate vehicles in the pits aside from tow vehicles. As we won’t have a firm count on AFM’ers showing up to race until a bout May 1st, stay tuned for any updates. Be assured, there is a good plan in place to direct and pit all of you. We don’t expect a lack of space, given everyone pits efficiently.

· Camping: Camping is allowed for no cost in the paddock per the usual arrangement with Sonoma. Oversize motorhomes may have to pit near the rider RV’s on this dirt parking lot near the administration offices where the Pro’s had their RV’s when the AMA was at Sonoma.

· Tech/ Registration: Tech will be located in the first garage (door 1) near the Media center/ registration. Registration will be in its normal location on the lower floor of the media center near pit out. Races can be added/ dropped here and all riders will need to come to registration to pick up their pink registration sheets. Tech questions will be answered at tech@afmracing.org Entry questions will be answered at entry@afmracing.org

· Red Flag Rule: For this round ONLY, the board modified the Red Flag rule to the following: Upon a red flag condition, Waving Red and black flags tell a rider to slow to a caution pace and exit the track at pit lane (T11). Do not stop on the track and do not pull off and stop, unless instructed to do so. Please watch corner workers for signs of debris and riders on track ahead. Please use caution when riding around to exit.

· Hot Pit access: We will NOT be using the hot pits for tire warm up/ practice starts. NO COUNTER COURSE RIDING IN THE HOT PITS ALL WEEKEND LONG. Various teams will have canopies and equipment in the hot pits and thus, we will not be able to use them for counter course riding at the far end. All riding will be in the direction of track travel all weekend long. Tuning, suspension adjustments, and general pit access as normal is allowed all weekend long.

Hot pit access will be controlled by track security. Wrist bands will be issued for pit crew who will need hot pit access. Remember, no red or yellow shirts in the hot pits (flag colors) as well as, closed toe shoes only. We will have WiFi on pit lane for live timing and scoring.

· Pro Superbike/ Sportbike races: Want to be on TV? For the first time in history, the AFM will be sanctioning and running two Televised Pro Superbike and Sportbike races in a normal AFM weekend. All AFM experts with class legal bikes are encouraged to participate. Both races will be run under existing AMA Pro Racing Superbike and Sportbike rules packages. Sunoco GTX260 spec fuel will be required and will be available in the paddock for purchase. Dunlop Spec AMA tires will also be required and available for sale in the paddock from Dunlop. Race distance will be the same as the standard AMA distance.

Entry fee is $150 per class for AFM members, which includes qualifying and one Sunday Professional race. Both races will be live steamed on Road Racing World’s website with help from Axial Video along with all of the AFM racing action for the weekend For the first time in AFM history, two one-hour shows for each Pro race will be televised on MAVTV!

Registration for this race can be added upon check in to the May event, trackside. Riders that are entered who meet the 118% lap time cutoff will be able to run the Saturday qualifying session for Pro class races. Qualifying cutoff times for the pro series races are 108% of pole for Dynojet Sportbike class and 107% for RacefuelZ Superbike class. Racers who do not meet the qualifying cutoff will not receive a refund for their entry fee. Spec tires and spec fuel will not need to be used in practice, but WILL need to be used in qualifying for the races and the races themselves.

Racing in a televised professional race is an experience unlike no other. Don’t miss your chance to race with all the big names and factory teams on YOUR home track in front of YOUR home crowd!

Club Sponsors:

We’ve worked hard to sign with a few AWESOME names in the motorcycle industry for our Club and series sponsors in 2014. Pirelli stepped up and signed on as our Tire Club sponsor, putting considerable resources into our series this season. Not to be outdone, Yamaha Motorsports came on board as well which is super exciting news, to have a top manufacturer AND a top tire company invest in the oldest motorcycle road racing club in the United States! We’ve also signed an agreement with the new uniquely formulated, natural racer performance fuel, RACEFUELZ as the official performance drink of the AFM! This triple win is awesome stuff for the AFM In 2014!

How can you help:

Get the word out about the best and fastest club in the United States! Sell the Sonoma round to all your friends and enemies…come out and support the club, come out and race with the club and most importantly, bring 1 new person into the club to race with us! We’ll do the hard part, if each one of you can get a new racer to an event this year, we’ll inject them with the need for speed!

So is F40 light still gridding with Afemme per the schedule... or is it going to be swapped with clubman lite (which usually runs with Afemme).

My fault Max…you'll be on the next one for sure. Also, schedule will be updated then.

If anything in the posted schedule above changes, please let us know ASAP so we can let our family and friends know when we are racing.

will do for sure Corey. I'll post an updated schedule. We moved vintage to race with clubman LW, moved open SB to before lunch sunday and moved the Pro sport bike race to after lunch on sunday. The only change will be moving sport bike qualifying to before FP and after the 4th round of practices.

Yeah, I have to think about how to word/ do that as it's not an official meeting (and the bylaws have specific rules on that).

Alan, I have been through this with another issue, and some things are not posted in the rule book, but are internal AFM only.

My question was changing to a 2-digit numbers. No where in the rule book does it state when a member can change to an available 2-digit number. Through an e-mail I was told it was one of the rules that is not in the book. For those wondering, I was informed that one needs to have raced for 3 consecutive years. I missed 2012 due to a medical, so I have to wait till 2015.

Strange if a bylaw applies to a member, how is the member to know if he or she has broken said bylaw if they dont know it exists :wtf

Surly all the Bylaw we have to abide by as members should be known or made available to all members?

Corey's comment is a policy issue. The numbers assignments are a policy. The official meeting is a 30 day notice needed…for an official meeting. I'm thinking about how to word your Alan. Bylaws are all on the AFM site.

I've got a funny story about 2 digit numbers. :afm199

Berto, on Sunday, can we start the 450/250 classes as one wave instead of two? or with a very short spacing? There's currently 9 registered in the 450 class and 21 in the 250 class. That would help reduce the number of 250's caught at the end of the race, might even give some of them an extra lap. The 250 front runners will likely only have a few 450's to pass, the rest they won't see.
