On a semi-related note.

Monday I was sitting at a left turn light in the cage and a construction truck flew through the intersection and a box of framing screws fell off the (untailgated) bed and scattered across all three lanes of oncoming traffic.

I called the Santa Clara non-emergency number and the dispatch operator could not be bothered to comprehend why a box of a couple hundred framing screws scattered across the road might be a problem.

I could literally hear their eyes rolling over the phone call.

I tried...

The call probably should have gone to the city maintenance yard, for the road maintenance division. Working for our local city, I've cleaned lots of stuff like that, even though I worked for parks. As for the dispatcher you reached, they would have that number at their fingertips, but they just didn't give a shit. It's sad that the police in general have become an entity unto into themselves, and many have an US against Them attitude. The seem to have forgotten that they are our employees, hired to protect us and our property. I definitely don't believe in defunding them, but a re-organization, and a change of attitude is in order, in my opinion.

Yes. Some cities like SF also have 311. In SF's case they would take the service call and probably route to SFDPW.

Got my nail today. Fortunately tubeless plug worked to get me home. RideOn didnt work. It slowed leak but didnt stop it. Nail went in not straight, probably pierced several layers.
CO2 cartridges didnt work. Compressor worked.
Good news, tire had 4k miles of commute.
