Assuming you get a 130 tire to fit on there, please photograph it and add it to this thread. I want to see how it turns out.

Amazingly - it fit! The fender will fit if I mod the bracket or make a new one. But I am liking this look, at least right now with the dry weather, LOL. Front tire looks bigger in last photo because of where I was sitting. They are all 130/80-18's.

Handling is about same, but I haven't pushed it since tires are new. Rides smoother, probably because front tire bigger or there's more rubber or something.

These things are beasts.

Looks good. And you're quick. It seems that usually for stories like this it takes weeks for the final result.

Go put some miles on that bike and enjoy it.

TY!

I use the bike to get to work - so needed to make it happen ASAP! Was more expensive that way - but figured if I bought the tools to change the tires, and spent time learning how to do it - it would have taken me a few days anyways. Since one of my side gigs pays me by the hour, it was actually cheaper to have a shop do it.

May I suggest, maybe come show it off on this Sunday's SF 49 mile ride, thread link here :
https://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=546482

Checked out thread. That looks fun, and I love riding in SF. Work there and used to live there, and I know how cool some of the roads are. I'm in if you don't mind a newer bike.

The provenance of this bike goes back to the mid 60's W1, which goes back to Meguro, which goes back to the BSA A10 (I think). So it has some vintage cred, LOL.

:)

What do you have against tire shops? Nails bring them gravy. :p

OMG - so true. San Francisco outlawed BB guns for a similar reason in the early 1900's. Auto glass replacement companies were hiring kids with BB guns to go around and shoot out car windows. Not saying tire shops would ever do this however!

They don't even need to!

ALSO - some of it's on me for being too creative in my lane splitting. You can tell where not to ride because it's covered in road debris. I need to keep remembering that. . .

Got my first flat a couple weeks ago, and called my State Farm agent. Apparently my comprehensive coverage includes tow reimbursement and flat tire labor reimbursement. I had to pay for the new tire, but SF will cover the towing and installation. SFMoto had me back on the road in <24 hours. :teeth

That's a good deal!! I have AAA, so towing was covered. But the tires and labor were expensive. Just looked at my insurance policy. Might make sense to change deductible on comprehensive.

FML!

LOL, got a flat on the new rear tire. Luckily made it home. Was fine until a couple blocks from home then started feeling like wheel wasn't round or something. I think it was a defective tube. They used original rube for front and "new" tube for rear.

Welcome to Pandemic World, where Fly By Night building tradesmen dump 1000s of tons of construction debris on public roads.

In particular, Skyline Drive through Daly City, where every day another couple of hundred truck loads of demolition debris is pitched on to the road by people who don't give a single shit about who gets a flat, or has to clean up after them.

There are a couple of roads, I just won't travel on as the chances of picking up a screw or nail is high.

Unless there are some arrests and consequences, it will continue, that's a fact.

CCTV, or patrols, or both might catch a few.

Then ....

Yes - agreed. Pre-pandemic, I would pick up a nail or something every few years. I have had three flats in the last six months! I also lane split in and around SF, which just generally has a lot of road debris for some reason.
