Holiday potlucks

I don't know how to cook anything, so I think about what people might like to eat or repeat what had been a success in the past (e.g., bbq ribs, calamari or chicken wings). Make plans to order from a place that does catering or call in some large takeout order and that takes care of it. I care that I do bring something that will be gobbled up so I don't get stuck bringing it back home.

A lot of times I'd have a bad reaction to pot luck lunches at work, I'd eat something that would give me a colon clearing Valgar factor of 9, so I would try to pick foods I felt were safe (aka: desserts).

My simple approach to potlucks is to either bring whatever I know I like (so I know there is at least one thing there for me to eat) or just chip in $$ to whoever ordered delivery (there's always someone). My wife likes to cook so I usually have lumpia or pancit and those are always gone super fast.

WTF does everyone (ok not everyone) bring desserts or cookies? 1 dessert is fine, but cookies? No one is going to eat that shit. Especially cheap, store bought cookies - the one with all that glaze and sugary sprinkles on top.

I have this potluck coming up this weekend and aside from myself, one other and the hosts, half the other stuff on the list are sweets. FFS, its not that hard to cook something simple. Please, don't do it.

Ha there was this guy who always brought a crockpot full of those beenie weenies and some kind of BBQ sauce. Easy, just grab the crock and swing by the store on the way in.
