The first route was enjoyable. I rode on a Friday around 12. Traffic was pretty light on both Sepulveda and the PCH.

santa monica lunch run

The fact that they repairing the street up at the Stunt lookout makes it very quit up there. I like to go up Topanga/Fernwood/Sattlepeak and end up at the Stunt lookout to start the riding day. You just have to ride a couple of 100' on dirt/gravel part of the street where they repair it.
Going back home I normally take Sattlepeak/Tuna to avoid PCH as much as possible.

I started going to the crest (Angeles Crest, Hwy 2), but you have to go pretty early to avoid squids and the cops. Cops are pretty bad out there so make sure your papers are in order. they also love to hand out fix it tickets. Summer gets pretty ridiculous. Avoid Holiday weekends at all costs. Its local knowledge that Summer time= at least 1 death per week at the Crest, so take heed. Ive heard everything from flying off cliffs, head-ons, and decapatations out there. There are some very fast roads and sections out there, so ride within your limits out there.
I recently moved to the Valley, and I started going to Malibu, aka Santa Monica Mts. This is what I call home now. First off, the law enforcement out here are way more laid back then that of the crest. You really have to be knuckleheading it up to get a ticket(i.e. stunting, crossing over the line, excessive speeding). Ive been dragging a knee past a cop, and no ticket. As I heard from the local Photographer (yes we have a guy taking pics here), Paul Harrold, Most of the cops here actually ride. they understand that you can drag and not be outa control. there is a section that is from the world famous rock store to the lookout that is called "the snake." You could spend all day here doing laps. there are also some great roads to ride. Latigo (10 miles of varying turns), Stunt, Piuma, Decker, Las Flores, Tuna (great for coaster races) and of course, Mulholland. The great thing is if you get lost, find your way downhill and all roads will lead to PCH (for the most part).

Here's a north bay loop for y'all, a little 288 mi. starter loop. You could come back on Skaggs, (And risk getting ticketed) or do Sea View to avoid lines of motor homes on 1? Many possibilities here. :ride

I just moved to the area. Thanks for sharing this ride! Looks awesome. I'm going to test it out this weekend.
I, too, have a Speed Triple! Just bought it about 2 months ago. Got rid of my Honda CBR600RR and decided to go all in on the more upright bike.
If you ride in a group, I'd be interested in tagging along. I've been riding for about 2 years and still need to get more riding experience under my belt. The 2 years I've rode were very on-and-off.
So, shoot me a message or reply here if you don't mind a newbie on one of your group rides.

I been taking this route for a while now. Start on Bear Creek Rd off of HWY 17 and take BCR to HWY 9. Make a right and stop at the 9 Burger to get some lunch. Then ride HWY 9 all the way down to 85 and head home.
