Golden State Warriors 2019-2020

It's just one game, but the Clippers looked much better than the Lakers IMO, far more than the score reflected. Danny Green was out of his mind or the Lakers lose by 30 and Lebron sits the entire fourth quarter. The Lakers offense looks like it has no flow, just like almost every offense Lebron has ever been a part of. The Lakers will win a lot of games, but they'll do it on pure talent and a lot of isolation. The Clippers will win as a team, assuming they stay healthy. Harrell was a beast last night.

The Warriors are gonna struggle to win one game against either of these teams.

I watched a bunch of BB yesterday.

Donovan Mitchell looks like he's going to rise to Curry-Durant-Harden-LeBron superstar level.

Kings are exciting fireworks, in a dumpster fire. Just ugly and sloppy.

My west predictions:

LA Clippers
Houston
Utah
Denver
Portland
San Antonio
Golden State
Dallas/NO/LAL/OKC/Minn last seed furball

Clips definitely outplayed the Lakers, but... the latter is an entirely new team, and LAC has a lot of returning cast members who already know how to play well together. It's too early to make a judgement call in that regard.

But barely an 8th seed? Nah. Just too much talent on that team for that to happen. Play a couple months of basketball, and we'll be able to make some realistic predictions.

Quotables...

"I'm not a moral victory kind of guy. We f--king sucked." - Draymond

"It doesn't feel very good. Losing stinks. It's no fun. This is more the reality of the NBA. ... The last five years we've been living in a world that isn't supposed to exist. Five years of, if I remember, the best record anybody's ever had over five years. So this is reality, nine guys 23 or younger, and we're starting over in many respects." - Kerr

Yep.

Beverley is going to be a problem for a lot of teams. He's excellent at what he does (be an asshole, guard the shit out of you), and has been effective at shutting down premier players. Playing AROUND him will be key for teams. PG didn't even play, Kawhi was Kawhi... When PG comes back, it'll be even more difficult for opposing teams. They look pretty damned good right now. Unstoppable? Remains to be seen.

Beverley is a mouth waiting to be punched and one of these days its just gonna happen somewhere in the league. He's a real prick or at least his face and actions makes him look like one..Kind of funny to see somebody besides Draymond haranguing the refs.

As for Dubs: those kids obviously had the jitters last night and were missing everything. 3rd youngest team in the league! I think they are super talented and will do better very soon. But if Looney and Draymond both are hurt, man, that's a problem. Looney's 3 pointer had me chuckling.

We'll know more when they have a few games under their belts. At this point, the Clips look like the super team of the division if not league. They were already basically intact from last year and added Kawhi. Talk about a contrast! The Dubs were basically blown-up and scattered. As the announcer said this morning, Kerr has to earn his money this year. I wonder if there will be any fevered acquisitions by the unhappy owners...

If it weren't for Beverley, it could be a friendly rivalry but he's sort of their Draymond but with different abilities so its always going to be edgy. Oddly, it didn't look like he and Draymond were at each other...rather it was with Steph who was mostly laughing at him and not takin the bait.

I am hopeful. Felt bad about the whole arena debut thing, but remember that opening night stinker when Beyonce and whozits came for opening night and they lost and stunk (Lacob was sitting next to them and his face told the story)? That was WITH the super stars.

I'll eat my new team humble pie and enjoy it. Probably don't have to worry about malaise and phoning it in this year! Honestly, that will be refreshing in itself because I like to watch regular season games.Watching Iggy save himself for the post-season was kind of discomfiting actually. No more geezer players.

I dunno, for chunks of the game, I was actually impressed by the athleticism being displayed by the young guys on the floor and I actually think we were playing our best basketball just before Draymond got back on the floor. If Draymond hits the fucking front of the rim one more time, my head's gonna explode. Someone needs to explain to him that a flat shot that barely clears the height of the rim at any point in its arc has ZERO FUCKING CHANCE OF GOING IN!

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath and remember: a) Steph didn't shoot well last night at all and b) the Clippers are probably the best team in basketball right now with a bench that is playing out of their minds. Barring any more major injuries, I still think this team can win 48+ games this year and develop some guys for the future when Klay gets back.

And, jesus christ, Kawhi travels on almost every single drive. I thought Harden was bad, Kawhi makes him look like Havlicek.

Man, Beverely is next level... He was shit talking the Warriors locker room janitorial staff while they were cleaning up.

“Y’all a little different without KD, I see,” Beverley playfully jabbed. “Uh-huh, y’all cheated long enough. It’s OK. Y’all had a good run. Back to reality.”

Warriors current state is consequence of not hitting on draft picks, plain and simple.

Jordan Bell, Damien Jone, Festus (injuries).

Lot is riding on these new draft picks to keep the warriors a competitive team.

I wonder if signing Giannis is a possibility. That's not for another 2 seasons including this one.

Looney out for a while longer, apparently... Some sort of nerve problem related to the hamstring. Kerr has no idea of a return date.

How about those Suns, indeed.
