Except doesn't every manufacturer sell more non-V8 versions than the V8 versions? :dunno
TRICK QUESTION! They're BOTH incorrect!

No thinking human would willingly wear a Cubs hat. That's a lizardpeople thing.

Recedite, plebes!
What about a straight 6?

If I didn't have way too many projects going on and need to finish, I'd go with the 2006 - 2009 Chevy 4.2L (256ci), DOHC - 24 valve, VVT straight 6. Stock motor is 291HP / 6K RPM, tweaked with bolt on stuff (cam, injectors, coils, headers, etc) in the mid 400's, boosted their getting in the +500HP range.

In the meantime the Blue Flame motor is going to suffice! :afm199

Nice! I used to have a Slant Six with an NOS Offy dual carb intake. Ported and polished heads. Milled block. Custom cam that was ground for the car and engine build. Electronic ignition. Clifford 6x2 exhaust. Flowmaster 40's.

I actually made the carb linkage myself. It's not like you can just buy those anymore, LOL. Lots of trips to Orchard Supply Hardware.

Inline 6's sound nice, as you know.

I assume you have never been in a Dodge SRT8?

No, but this guy has.

EDITOR WES RAYNAL: I have to say this car was a pleasant surprise. I figured it'd be fast, have a great exhaust note and attract some attention. What surprised me was the ride--it's far more compliant and comfortable than I thought it would be around Detroit.

For cruising and profiling, this car is tough to beat.

Push it like you would a sports car, though, and the softness is a deficit, too floaty and wriggly.

The long and low shape still looks good to me. For as big as this beast is, the interior feels a little claustrophobic, it's not too bad.

Don’t care. Doesn’t make V8 noises.

And a Supra was never considered a “muscle” car by anyone. Sporty car, sure.

Preach on!

I'm even ok with straight 8's. They used to be quite the muscle and sound incredible.

When I was growing up, a friend had a Dodge Dart Swinger. He pulled out the 318 and put in a 340. Holly 850 Double Pumper, 3/4 race cam, etc. - all the stuff folks used to do in the late 70's.

It was a light car, and with 4.56's and traction bars would loft the front wheels if you were driving over a dip and punched it. Actually, the whole car would twist.

Had no set redline - valves would float at around 8k, however. He used to let me drive it, so that's how I know.

:laughing

I also used to have a 71 Demon that was built in a similar fashion. I ended up selling it, since it was fun but wasn't really drive-able, especially in SF.

I remember once lighting it up for an entire block in the TL. Wasn't even a brake stand - just me punching it in a little water.

A cop pulled up to me right after that. He didn't see me do it, but saw all the tire smoke. The entire block was nothing but rubber smoke.

He just said "please don't do that." This was 20 years ago.

Agree about Supra not being muscle car (not American with V8).

But the Dart has a nice idle. My slant six didn't have that idle, but with the Flowmasters and the mild mods I did, it had that similar "angry lawnmower" sound. It could be mental illness on my end, but I just love that raspy sound. Same with a good V6 (like the one in my Caddy).

In another post I talk about my V8 bona fides - been there, done that. I'm just all over 6's right now for some reason.

Ogg

Oggito ergo sum
(not American with V8).

But it doesn't have to be 'murican to be a muscle car. Back when AMG was more than just style elements, both the E63 and C63 certainly qualified.

Oddly enough, the M5 (also with a V8) does not.
