Game of Thrones Season 8

I'm there with you. Up until this season never watched the episodes as they came out. In fact I don't think I even watched most of seasons 1/2, and if I did, wasn't paying attention. Never got into the show when most around me were raving; really only started because fiancee got dragged in.

So I didn't have the story appreciation, character knowledge, etc that most did. And even I was able to pick out the plot holes in this final season.. it just didn't make sense.

I watched the two previous. Before that, I kept thinking, what is this deal, LOTR pretentions + Dungeons n Dragons or what? The fake Anglo sorta-names, the sort of sorcery, the author with two initials just like Tolkien. Two seasons ago, they had a lot of nekkid scenes, so MS. BA wouldn't even watch it but she ended up watching these last episodes because they got rid of almost all the nudity and sex scenes. I still think its funny that people know the dragons names. And the lame name of the last surviving dragon is Drogon. Wow, what a linguistic stretch there, nyuk.

I know, why do I have to be so impossibly mean.....But I was a viewer. I started watching when right about the time they killed off Sean Bean, one of my favorite actors. So that was a bummer. Ever since Sharpe's Rifles, I love that guy. If I ever were to watch the old episodes, it would be to see him.

I think $15M/episode warrants a bit of scrutiny :laughing

Oh yeah, baby, they spent the big bux!!!! No doubt."

I'm so old that special effects began with Harryhausen for me. I'm enough of an inner kid, that I watch this stuff over and over again for the effects. Anytime that last two LOTR movies come on, I;m there watching the battle scenes. I endure that weirdly gay histrionic Sam-n-Frodo love bit just so I can see them Orcs. yeah!

But I think the key to the previous episode, with the battle with the zombies, is that it was so dark because it cost way less than trying to show everything too much. If you think about it, the LOTR battles were blazing daylight so everything had to be shown. I spent a good part of the recent episode squinting, trying to turn off all the light sources reflecting on the teevee screen. They saved a lot NOT showing skeletors-n-shit.

thought the Danny-with-wings scene was a tribute to Mr Harryhausen ...

see 1:47 and 2:45 ...
bonus skelaror and mad bongo track if you watch all four minutes ...

guess the test for me is that I will tune in for sequels/prequels and/or
read the next book (if it ever comes out) ...

Drogon was named after Khal Drogo. The other two were named after her brothers.

I rest my case.:laughing Dracarius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(But now I have to look up Khal Drogo). I think they shoulda had pink dragon flea collars with their names so we could keep em separate.

:laughing that is the correct level of emotional investment from fans that these last two seasons have deserved.

:thumbup Seems to have turned out that way, based on fan laments.

Normally, if you like something like this, you read the books. But I have zero interest in Martin's books. I dunno maybe I'd like 'em but I'm not a big fiction guy anyway.

Hooli's a ne-erd, Hooli's a ne-erd. Nyuk.:laughing:laughing:laughing

Yeah, I forgot George RRRRRRR Martin insists on taking Latin linguistic standard iu and ia and subbin in y. That way it wouldn't remind you of Harry Potter's casting spells and shit with his wand. Expeliamus, I mean Expelymas! Not proto-Armenian Targarian. But Targaryean. Big diff!

SKRRRRRRRRRRRT!!!!!!
dothraki are apparently going to roam the 6 kingdoms without a story line lol.

Not only all that, but did you see them just walking past Jon as he was being escorted to his ship? just like "oh, you killed our Khaleesi...no bigs".

Lol that's what I thought. These Savage killers just casually stroll by :laughing

BEST ending ever! Almost as good as LOST.

I loved reading all the GOT nerds freak out about how shitty they ending was..the only thing that would have been better is a dream sequence into an awakening of the kid right in the middle of the 80's movie, Cloak and Dagger. So it would be fully, WTF moment.

I personally like Jon Stark disappearing in the woods ala Kevin Costner in Dances with Wolves. TATONKA!

Plot twist: Jon enters the woods in the wild north to live out his days, runs across a lumberjack named Dexter.
