Finally, the gopro karma drone is upon us!

Are there industrial drones with longer battery life? I swear I have seen one airborne for a solid 40-50 minutes over a brussel sprout field. It was twilight/sundown to boot.

It all depends on how you build it.
The right combination of motors props, batteries and frame can achieve that.
However the tradeoff for endurance usually means reduced lift capabilities and slower response to commands.
Endurance builds use very low KV motors which can't handle the fast corrections that the controller spits out to counter heavy winds, object strikes, erratic pilot input ect.

The consumer stuff is generally limited to around 20 minutes to keep things simple to use.

That guy who stopped working with us and went to gopro recently quit.
He said it was a brutal competitive environment.

Yeah, getting slaughtered in the market has really forced them to grind employees - problem is they still retain some legacy people that don't do shit. I spit out when I realized my management was on easy street, just waiting on that IPO pay

I'm not sure, to be honest.

The drone I'm speaking of is mean for a pretty big payload. You can hook up a red epic to the gimbal and fly around/control the camera.

It's pretty freakin sweet.

Allegedly so.

Somebody should design a drone catcher.

It's been done.

with jamming and Nets and other funny things.

Just an FYI taking down an operating aircraft is a felony.
I'm sure the laws will even out eventually but even small drones are considered aircraft currently.

In Netherland, the law enforcement is training eagles to catch small errant drones and bring them to justice. We need an elite force of auto-drones to catch criminal drones flying near airports, forest fires or girls locker rooms.

I have one of those. it was designed for the Epic.
I would be shocked if you could get 10 minutes out of it with that load.

They're mostly doing it by building it straight into the software.
DJI geofences areas. if you're inside the area you won't be able to take off. If you try and fly into it you bounce off invisible walls.
I wouldn't be surprised if GoPro is doing similar things but I haven't read up on the karma

It's highly likely that all flight controllers will have this built-in at some point.
