Curved monitor for software development

Looks very nice! Just make sure your PC is up for moving that many pixels around.

I had reservations about going to the wider curved screen, they were unfounded. I love it and miss the one at my office (they wouldn't let us bring 'em home. :/ )

do it. 100%

I found that it's significantly better to have one bigger screen instead of two smaller ones side by side. You don't have the break in your vision directly in front of you, so you aren't looking slightly to one side or the other at all times.

Obvi the base interest is to have as much screen real estate as possible. But is the desire here to have it as unbroken as possible?

I'm a video editor, I like more visual real estate more of the time. But I'm perfectly ok breaking it across screens, and for me it's more important that the monitors come from a source that's reputable for their color representation. I've heard most folks in my industry shunning these, so it;s cool to see they have a market.

A single video across 2 screens, though?

I mean I currently have 3 monitors set up like a tie fighter -- a 34" widescreen flanked by a pair of 27" that are turned 90 degrees in portrait mode. The side monitors are for stuff constantly running but not focused on -- email application, music, messaging apps for work, etc.

The main monitor is for the shit I'm currently focused on. Been significantly better for my workflow to not have one application spanning 2 screens.

tastes like burning
So my usual setup for work is two monitors, which worked out pretty well. I was thinking of getting one of the bigger curved ones. Anyone have experience with those, how do you like it?

Maybe on of these in 38 inch

Thanks

I have a 34 inch curved ultrawide in my home office right now. There are trade offs with the 3 monitor setup I have at my workplace, it widely depends on what you do and how you go about it. Overall I like multi monitor better for my work use case, but I like ultrawide for most things besides work.

A lot of my work is done with Virtual Machines. With that, it's nice to have my VM on one screen, full screen, that I code on. 1 screen that is on the base machine desktops where I do research, sometimes have videos or music playing, etc. Then a 3rd screen that has stuff like email, project documents, etc. because of the way the VM program I have works, unless I programmed the monitor to act as 2 screens (a lot can do that, mine can't) I have to keep the VM as a picture in picture thing and I end up shuffling a lot of windows.

VMs are a specific use case though, and outside of dealing with them, I prefer the ultrawide, curved monitor. With things that actually cooperate with windows window snapping it's easier and better to have the extra horizontal space and easier to go back and forth to different things when they all fit on the same screen.

If I could pick whatever I wanted, I would go to one of these, or similar: https://www.newegg.com/lg-49wl95c-w-49/p/N82E16824025946?&quicklink=true

the most screens I've ever run is 3. 1 for my program monitor - what the audience will eventually see, one for the rest of the rest of the editing interface, and the last one was portrait mode for emails & web browsing.

Fear me!
The VM per screen +1. I have 3 27" monitors. Day to day it's:
setup 1:
monitor 1: Slack, email
monitor 2: vscode
monitor 3: customer stuff in a GDPR VM full screen

setup 2:
monitor 1: Slack, email
monitor 2: vscode
monitor 3: test machines, ssh sessions etc

setup 3:
monitor 1: Slack,email
monitor 2: full screen webex,zoom,whatever
monitor 3: whatever I'm screen sharing, full screen

Pic of my pandemic setup.

Now that is an awesome setup!

G9. Also, from this guy's post...I'm reviving the keyboard snobs thread because it looks like Logitech has come out with exactly what I've been wanting or close to it anyway with the G915.

Looks great, but you lose points for having the PC on the floor.

I recently bought the same case in a mirrored silver, I've yet to put anything in it though.

Not my setup.
