When people are going into a zone where people's homes are damaged or destroyed and there may be valuables still there, the people whose homes they are need to have a confidence that the people going there won't be taking their valuables.
These guys destroyed that trust. Since that was part of their job (maintaining that trust) they forfeited their access and thus their jobs as a result of their actions.
In these kinds of situations, there is more to it than just simply labor.
Agreed.
I went up there yesterday to see a friend of mine in Magalia, who's place was spared. There were still homeowners combing thru the debris and looking for memento's of their past life. Quite a sobering day for me as it was my birthday as well.
Just imagine if someone were coming back to their lifetime home and found these idiots?
If you were in the military and went thru seeing your buddies being shot/killed and been thru that trauma, I can understand more of the "gallows" humor reaction.
These guys are cleaning up, not looking for bodies, or watching their friends being shot. Immature and extremely poor judgment, hopefully this will teach them a life lesson and they will be better for it, and will set an example for others, as this clean up will take at least a year, maybe more.
