Imagine what prices would be if sidewalks were not a minefield of human feces. Maybe thats all part of a crude rent control tactic.

Pretty dubious data source they are using. User reported data (on an English only website) from around the world likely has all kinds of issues.

But nice click-bait without the effort of actual research.

That's correct, not hard to believe, yes, really. Is all I can say.

So, this just in, or ahem.., out.
I actually saw a dog pooping while walking today. It was one of the small ones say a pug. A lady with an iPhone was holding the leash and walking and messaging or something
The pug was dropping bombs in a few squat by squat steps.

OMG, so terrible :rolleyes The dog situation is quite icky

My anecdotal personal evidence strongly claims rent is higher than in NYC. Yes NYC has some more expensive places but they're basically for bank bosses et al. You get more for your dollar for building quality in NYC probably

Don't be that guy.
That might be a little exaggerated. I'm in the middle of looking for an apartment for myself, possibly a 1BR or a studio, and I was surprised to find the prices in SF are pretty much the same as in the South Bay (Santa Clara/Mountain View).

Point is, yes SF is expensive, but so is the rest of the area. SF is getting a bad rap in THAT sense.

littlebeast

get it while it's easy
not surprising. san francisco is highly land locked. pretty much the only direction to go is up, and that sort of construction is stupid expensive.

SF is getting a deserved rap, and collecting the surrounding cities in the melee.

.

That's probably semi-true. In SanJo each place might come with a designated parking for the same price or there will be one more room.

What is one bedroom in SF means sometimes just one room and one kitchen, while in the suburbs it might mean a kitchen, a big common room and a separate bedroom.

At least in the South Bay / peninsula there are fewer homeless, drug addicts, piles of human / animal feces, needles, etc to navigate past.

San Francisco has highest rent in United States. United States is wealthiest nation in the world. :dunno

I imagine Luxembourg City has to be close though.

Hong Kong?

Impressive SF, impressive

Does Hong Kong not have giants slums to round out the numbers any more?

I was surprised SF beat out places in other countries like Hong Kong, Luxembourg, London. I guess those places have cheap areas that bring the avg down enough for SF to take teh #1 spot.
