Copper John site with a shrewd scope housing, 4x feather vision glass and a .10” green fiber.

My 32" Arrows came in today and they make a damn sight more sense for me than those 28". :laughing

I will be donating those 28" to the club.

Well, my arrows came yesterday, so I will be taking them to the range tomorrow. I expect I will be at it for quite a while before I have any idea what I am doing. :laughing

I have more fun, but also get more frustrated with archery hunting. My favorite is archery elk during the rut. Bugling and cow calling, interacting with the elk, seeing far more elk than during rifle season. But... have been so many times I just didn't like the shot I had with a bow and passed, that I could have easily tagged out with a rifle or even muzzleloader.

Having a big herd bull at 70 yards, uphill. Passed. Another big 6 sneaking through trees around 50 yards, couldn't get a clear line. A cow bedded at 60 yards, too thin of a shooting lane, and so on. But it sure is fun!

One hunt in Oregon I found a herd at a treeline while I was on a logging road behind locked gates. Great way to get away from people who aren't willing to walk in. Couple bulls in the herd, cow called one in from 292 yards down to 42 yards for the shot. With a rifle I would have just shot him at the treeline, but with a bow, have to put in some work.

Found this muley dead head while out after elk in CO.

Archery hunting is the hardest thing I have ever done for sure! Even stalking turkey with the bow instead of a shotgun sucks if they spook! :laughing Turn into a leopard, freeze..stalk...freeze..stalk. then when you pull back poof they fly :laughing Sucks! even worse trying for deer :facepalm Tell me about your Oregon hunts, do you have a hookup or family? I used to go to Arizona but the out of state tags are outrageous now.

I used to live in NW Oregon. Reminds me of a big 6 that was following his herd of cows. Looked great, they were going to pass about 30 yards to my left if they just kept going. Planned to take a cow until he came out in the open. Was playing out just as I hoped, but then he started rounding them up and went in another direction, farther than I wanted to shoot.

The one I did end up getting a different time was a raghorn. Rack wasn't impressive, but racks don't fill the freezer.

The meat is what's important :thumbup

This is what we made today. School threw away a bunch of mats, carpeted styrofoam. Turned it into a target. Next going to buy pipes to build Alan's stand he posted here
