Christmas Dinner! What are you making?

Every year we get a smoked local pig from the butcher and heat it up on the BBQ on low wrapped in heavy duty tin foil with some apples tossed in for added moisture.

We have to do the head separately as it must come off to fit the rest on the BBQ.

Potato Dumplings, brussels sprout and cabbage. :thumbup

And traditional Christmas Crackers from the UK.

I have to say, I am a pretty blasé cat, but I am impressed by that pig. Well done.

This year Prime Rib. I may buy some crabs for a salad if the local fishing opens up.

We are getting Chinese take out.. :laughing

Wife just told me she is not cooking this year and what do you want.
She has been busting ass at home and at work and I am not going to cook so... there ya go.

That certainly has some appeal.

I tried to talk my wife out of the whole Smoked Pig extravaganza this year as she's very tired from Chemo, (she caught it early, she's doing well, positive outlook, good appetite...), but she won't have any of it.

Crap.

More work for me! :laughing

Probably going to my brother's house. He is the cook. Usually ham and a beef tenderloin or crown roast or something like that. Probably 20-30 people so he makes a ton of food. He also makes a meat and a veggie lasagna. Makes all his own pasta, sauces, etc. He is legit. I help with stuff but he prefers to cook rather than travel and the rest of us prefer to travel rather than cook so it works out.

Sometimes he skips the ham/beef/lamb whatever and just does some ribs with the lasagna's. Or pizza. Really whatever he is feeling like it's all damn good.

It was just the two of us, so I made a duck confit for the first time. Stupid easy. Takes some planning, but easy.

Served it with roast potatoes (also with duck fat) and a spinach salad with pomegranates and persimmon.

No photos, too tasty.
