Even in our race, after 4 hours it came down to who had the best timing coming out of the bus stop chicane.

Here we are with two laps to go, and we ended up 4th. My car is the white and purple one.

Congratulations on a great finish. As cool as the prototypes are, I really prefer the GT-type classes that look like real cars.

I watched much of the 24 and it was exciting watching the Cadillac catching the Acura in the last half hour. I was rooting for Wayne Taylor’s car, a shame that the chasing Cadillac had a flat but don’t know if they had enough. Agree about the GT class and watching Corvettes, Ferraris etc. is kinda like a superbike race, they look like production machinery. I suspect the body work and engine location is similar to production but that’s it. Have enjoyed the Taylor boys and watching the Corvettes.
I may actually watch a few nascar road course races this year. I find that I’ve been daydreaming of riding to Watkins Glen to watch some racing.

Bikewanker, I think things may have turned out differently if the Caddy hadn't suffered two flats in the closing hours.

Racercosmo... any vids of your Daytona race?

We aren't allowed to post any of the in car video without permission.
I think IMSA uploads the broadcast to YouTube about a week later.

The 01 was definitely going to fight it out to the end. Being that the blowouts were so far apart, it's tough to say what caused them. I didn't pay attention if they were double or triple stinting the tires, or if that was a fresh set on the last stop. Renger was pushing, and may have hit some of the curbs hard.

Rolls with it...
Yeah, but the Navara isn't too bad at all...

Wouldn't mind the new Frontier looking like that, but Nissan rarely does the "right" thing.

Oh well...

A bit of a swing and a miss with the Frontier. To me at least.

New Pathfinder will keep Nissan going for a bit. That’s an important model for them.

Definitely tailored the Frontier to American tastes, or what they think American tastes should be, but the Navara looks a lot better....

If the Titan looks like 7/8ths of a full size truck, this looks like 7/8ths of a Titan.

Not a big fan of making mid and full-size pickups look like Kenworths. Other than the grill, this Frontier is a good evolution of the existing design. Will probably look better in a color other than battleship gray.

Yeah, I don't hate it, and the new motor and trans that debuted last year, in a current gen truck, gets pretty good reviews.

I think with the smaller trucks in the line-up manufacturers can go sporty, like the Colorado or Ranger. They don't have that much resemblance to the bigger trucks...

Nice article about a friends son. Nick Persing from Morgan Hill. (By the way you can put in your email to see the article and then not accept the registration to continue with it)

I have known Nick from 5yo. He was riding dirt bikes on his Dad's property.
At 7 he was ready to race MX and Dad asked me what I thought. I told him if it was my son I would put him in Karts because I would not like to see my kid take the physical punishment of racing MX.

He went a bought a Kart and soon Dad and Son were racing together.

Nick has stuck with it and overcame his large frame to be a National level Kart racer. Dad just sent me the link to the article and gave him congrats and all and asked... "So is Nick thinking F1 or Indy Car?" :laughing

It takes dedicated parents to make this happen. Nick is lucky to have those! :thumbup

Right around the corner a dude was backing in his McLaren into his... spot, whatever. His McLaren? Beauty car.

I just wonder who pays for this beauty.

Tomorrow surely I must drive my hotrod. It is a 1973 Volkswagon. Kinda

Nick's my cousin and I remember his dad telling me that you said Nick should focus on Karts. I was bummed, but in the end I think the right call. He loves 4 wheels and there was a much clearer path to pro level racing.

It's been awesome watching him progress from karts to where he is now. Especially fun being able to talk race craft with him through the years (though he's clearly surpassed my ability/knowledge).
