Appears that Cadillac is adding the "Blackwing" nomenclature to the "V" Series cars. Although, the Blackwing V8 was a totally new, unique engine. Cadillac's first twin-turbo, DOHC, 32V, 4.2-liter V-8 introduced in 2019, and only available for the 2019 and 2020 CT6 models.
Two configurations:
A regular-output version making 500 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque available in the Platinum edition (not a V series model).
The CT6-V has the high-output variant making 550 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Too bad they never put a manual in these cars.

I think the high production costs for these trick "Blackwing" motors, at $20K+, plus low sales in larger 4 door sedans (all manufactures), influenced them to go back to the 6.2L LS supercharged motors. The Blackwing motor is also a bit taller and wider than the LS and doesn't fit in the CT5 chassis.

Looks like we’ll have to wait till tomorrow to find out what motors will actually be in the new V-Blackwing cars.
Currently their site doesn’t list the 464HP Twin Turbo V6 in the CT4 car, nor the 640HP Supercharged V8 in the CT5.

One thing for sure… From Cadillac: “For those who long to grasp the shifter and work the clutch, we have exciting news—the V-Series Blackwing vehicles will come with a standard 6-speed manual transmission”. :thumbup

Three hours to go in the Rolex 24 Hour race at Daytona.
In the DPi Class... Acura, Cadillac, Acura, Cadillac

The last two years Acura has really upped the game, but hoping for a 5th straight win for Cadillac!!!

In GTLM, Corvette's in 1 and 2 :thumbup

Rolls with it...
650hp? Supercharger? Sounds like the last CTS-V engine and not the new Blackwing V8.

Those pics were taken at Spring Mountain (which GM has done press launches at before).

The CT5-V Blackwing is slated to have a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with around 650 hp (485 kW / 659 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. Cadillac has already hinted this will enable the car to hit a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h).

New manual 6-speed transmissions as well.

They do Cadillac performance driving school there, too.

Oh I know. Was just there in August.

There were signs all over the facility which appeared as if they had just done sales training for Chevy dealer employees. I know the C8 press/“influencer” launch was there earlier last year.

Yeah it seems “V” has been bastardized in recent years. Now Blackwing doesn’t mean the engine, just means it’s the top dog. Kinda like “turbo” is with the P-cars.

Penske throwing in with a big budget and some talented wheelmen pretty much guarantees podiums.

Guess I should have read the link. Hope they’ve sorted out the overheating issues that setup had with the CTS-V. Camaro ZL1 seems to be the only platform with that engine they’ve been able to keep the temps from running away when the car is pushed hard at a track.

Congrats to the Wayne Taylor teams.
Cadillac in second, but the cars just couldn't catch a break.
Pretty impressive drive by the #55 Mazda for third.

Couldn't sleep last night so I was watching the onboard cameras. The #55 Mazda was ripping through the field like a demon. It was a blast to watch.

Hooligan with a Halligan
It was cool to see a guy that drove for us in 2016, start his own team and go on to win LMP2. And he did it with a livery drawn in crayon by a 6 year old.

I don't know if I'd call that a race so much as a drafting contest. But there were a couple vintage races suggested on the right column that were fun.

Even in our race, after 4 hours it came down to who had the best timing coming out of the bus stop chicane.

Here we are with two laps to go, and we ended up 4th. My car is the white and purple one.

And the white flag is out this time by.

Ya, Daytona is a tough track. Timing and momentum rule the day. It must have been satisfying to be running in the lead pack at the end of the race though, ya?
