Cake Kalk Electric Dirtbike

Like anything new, they look awesome, but the price just seems insane to me. I have ridden a zero and it was a lot of fun. I can see some great uses for a bike like this, but all of them revolve around stealthy fun, and I don't think I could justify $13k so that I could fool around at my local BMX park in town. The Sur Ron looks tempting, but thats about as much as I would spend on something like this, at least in their current iterations. Any chance we get a bike like this down into the $6-$8k range?

whats that saying haters gonna hate, I agree they are cool and shit you can have a moto-x track close to homes and get away with racing etc.

Hell bezerkely is already talking about banning combustion engines vehicles for sale.

I have to say I ride my moto to my buddies every now n then just to go blasting around on his zero its a hoot in sport mode lol

Each individual has their own priorities and pain threshold for pricing. I personally didn't buy the & to be stealthy, but after having a Sur Ron and experiencing a 110 pound fully electric two wheeler it put me off from ever owning an ICE bike again. My last race bike was a Honda RC51 which I loved, but man thinking back of the HP/Weight ratio it's insane compared to EVs. Nope this is my jam now so like I've said everyone has their own taste and priorities. Thank god for that too.

The Sur Ron is 125lbs with battery btw... I weighed it. The Kalk is 150lbs and it feels like a BIGGER bike just from 25lbs extra. I feel the weight balance is better on the Light Bee than the Kalk. That's all the Kalk really is a bigger faster Light Bee, but if you dump some money in the Sur Ron it's just as good as the Kalk.

I'm surprised that very few of these urban electrics pay any attention to cargo space. A grocery getter with no place for the groceries.

Delivery backpack you'd be surprised how much you can carry, I doordash with my Light Bee. If you lock it up to a bike rack that'll help prevent it from getting stolen. Name a motorcycle you can do grocery shopping in? FZ07? DRZ400? GSXR?

Since you ask about groceries Cake does make the Osa

For sure, and my hope is that eventually things get to a point where we see more of these types of bikes than ICE bikes. Its just too pricey at this point. I feel the same way about electric cars and trucks. Was recently looking at the Rivians, and while I would love to own one, them being almost double the price of a new fully loaded 4 runner just makes it difficult to justify at this point. I think Electric bikes have some huge upsides, and Im excited for their future.

I just checked and it's another $1k (& 14 lbs) for the version with a plate. It may not go far, but it seems like an electric dirtbike should be rideable on the street.

Torque spec is 4x a Grom, though rated top speed is less.

I've done it with most of my motorcycles. Name one you can't.

Other than being cheaper to operate, I don't see how e-motos are better at grocery shopping than a motorcycle.

I totally get the parking advantages of a bicycle-like E-motos such as the Light Bee.

Without a backpack?

I also want to point out electric motorcycles don't require the use of a clutch so you can hold on to something while your riding, I've done it before.

I haven't worn a backpack while riding since the 80s. Even then I preferred having my stuff on the rear rack.

In the past I'd mostly use top case shopping, and if I had extra, net it to the passenger seat.

Now with trying to keep things sanitary, if I use a bike and have multiple grocery stops I'll use side cases. I mostly use a car for that these days. Today my car wouldn't start from sitting so long, so I put it on a charger and took a bike.

I have a bike with no clutch lever too, though I haven't held groceries while riding it. I've done that on a bicycle. I'd be a lot more inclined to do that on an emoto like the Light Bee than on an ICE moto that weighs 5x as much.
