Cake Kalk Electric Dirtbike

What does this look like to you?

A cobbled together mess?

Sorry maybe we should have an electric sub forum so you don't get offended. I thought bicycles have pedals no? It's ok we know your afraid of new technology I mean Harley Davidson and Erik Buell are going to start making these bicycles in the near future.

Take a look at your new Harley vroom vroom

I can't say I'm exactly offended, nor does that matter.
I'm just taken aback at your excitement over janky looking (to me) cheap bicycles loaded with lithium batteries and cobbled together in China.
I know that people are all hopeful that the future isn't going to suck and we can quietly rebel and remain rugged individuals by riding these shitboxes from outlet to outlet. Spoiler alert: it's going to suck.
Lithium batteries don't scale to a point of replacing the current number of ICE vehicles. There's not enough of it out there.
As far as my feelings.on HD or Erik building battery junk? Neither venture is going to be even moderately successful. I think the built in vibration in the Livewire says all you need to know about that whole program.

Whatever that means
What's your obsession with the electric mountain bikes, and why do you choose to populate a motorcycle forum with your drivel?

Gosh darn these posts that other folks enjoy but I don't and I had no obligation to click on or read them! Why can't everything be targeted directly at MY interests!:afm199

Domed wheel rims are very eBike-ish tho. If I had to give this company the benefit of the doubt that they hired actual designers and not simply watched a youtube video about Apple thinking white = branding, then I would assume the eBike aesthetic was intentional.

Probably because they know Jalopyshoppe personally and wanted to piss him off.

Without having ridden one, I really like the Kalk. They're too expensive and a bit Ikea'y, but I'd love to have one.

I've gawked at the cake while at Evolution. Beautiful engineering, detailing, finish and construction. Not for everyone but it's good to see variety and choices. I'd love to try one but too bad the pricetag is a huge turnoff and limits its customer base.

Good to hear from you MrMark... Do share more.
I rode the Kalk when they were doing a demo thing at Metcalf.

The roots may be Scandinavian, hence the Ikea look. I think the wheel diameters are Mtn Bike spec.

I created a thread. I’ll see if I can find it.

There is also an electric moto thread...

I guess since Mark bumped my thread I did get to ride the Kalk earlier this year. It's a great bike, it's like a Sur Ron Light Bee but a little bit bigger and more powerful. It's fits somewhere between the Alta and the Sur Ron. I would love have one but it's $$$$ Literally as much as the Alta was and like 3x the Light Bee, they are building a cheaper lower spec'd one that's like $9500 that's BLACK if you like a black bike or don't like to ride something that looks like it's made by Apple =P

Side by Side comparison of the Kalk vs Light Bee on the H2O hillclimb, pretty clear which is the winner but we'll see when I compare video with my now 72V 15Kw Light Bee =P

EricB took one for a ride and I followed on the Light Bee also

Hi Butch, sorry I don't visit forums too often. Still loving the Kalk& and ran into a metal failure issue. Cake was quick to respond.
https://cakekalk.com/latest-news/what-was-that/

Going to try to extend my riding range too:

Everyone has a different view/need/opinion on stuff. That's fine. I just developed my site to assist other OWNERS because there isn't sH&t out there about the bikes by actual owners, not even dreaded forums.

Wrote a full article for WebBikeWorld about the Cake, now my second paid gig there. First was for my Sur Ron Light Bee.

They now want me to review an OSA, but we shall see. Since I'm not a YouTuber who makes money off of 'Likes and effing Subscribes" but only do this to help others it takes a ton of time to do. Anyway it's a fun bike.

Butch right now I am testing a way to extend the range of my bike. More to follow but at this point it makes a world of difference for me and this bike. Because the Cake charger is 110/220v I can use it at EVSE level 2 charging stations. Heaven, my testing results will be posted in a week.
