Building a new PC

I'm so far out of my realm. Can I hook it up to my tv through my receiver?

What's the difference between building one and buying the ps4 neo?

What are you tryin to do with it?

Majority of graphics cards have HDMI output now so hooking up to a tv is trivial.

I'm looking to play video games on my tv with a controller... With ease

A console theoretically makes the most sense... But does it?

I'm so new, I haven't typecasted myself. I literally own 2 games on PC, currently

for ease of use, just buy a PS4 or XBone.

You can well build a gaming PC for a 'home theater' type setup for 500 bucks, use a controller, and play games that look better than consoles blah blah. It's definitely possible, easy, and you can configure it to just boot straight in to Steam big picture mode. If you don't mind tinkering a bit and you're OK with PC games and there aren't any Xbox or PS games that are must have exclusives, you get more bang for your buck IMO. Steam sales, cheap games, etc.

Definitely not just plug and play though like an Xbox or PS4.

Did you see the slickdeals link I posted? It is better then your most recent partpaicker and the same price

Can't get a whole lot better at that price point.

You already have a monitor etc etc? If you happen to be hooking this up to a TV and playing in 1920x1080 you're going MASSIVE overkill

I did, and thanks for the input. I still want to build my own at this point because I feel I can learn more about my PC and how to fix issues if I build it myself.

Best of luck with the build! I just finished building a PC with my 13-year-old son last week (learning project for him), and I've built all my PCs over the past 15 years or so. Not my field of work/study, just a hobby. I was so stoked when I could afford an SSD to run my operating system - talk about a major speed upgrade! I also install my top two favorite games on the SSD, but then have regular HDD to store stuff I don't need to access regularly (e.g. movies / music on my home theatre PC).

Anyway, you're in for a good time hopefully.

One thing I always seem to forget is that for many CPU fans there is a bracket that must be installed on the back side of your motherboard. Happened this last time too. Time came to install the CPU fan, and then I remembered we had to take the MoBo out for it. Only build that didn't happen to me on was the i7 Haswell I built a few years ago, that sucker is water cooled! Good times. :teeth

Best of luck!
