Bike bandit tire replacement

Hello all,

So I got a screw in my tire that I ordered from Bike Bandit, and am now looking for a shop that will replace it for me using the road hazard insurance I purchased with them. The problem is, most shops I've called are direct competitors with Bike Bandit, and thus don't play nice with the warranty.

Does anyone know of a shop in the Bay Area that will take care of this for me?

I tried Cycle Gear and a couple local shops near me, but all said no.

Lesson learned, I'll be buying my next set of tires locally.

Thanks!
Rod

Best guess is that you probably have pay the shop up front for your new tire+install and then you copy/send that bill to Bike Bandit road hazard warranty department for reimbursement.

Yeah, the info online and over Bike bandit's phone support is minimal at best. They say to find an "authorized dealer" but don't provide any lists. I've called a few shops and most say to try another dealer. I'll try calling DNA tomorrow to see if they honor Bike Bandit's warranty.

Have you talked with a live person at Bike Bandit?

Yes, two different people. Both said they couldn't give me a list of "authorized repair shops" but that I need to find one before I can even open a claim. All the repair shops I've called have referred me to different shops. Most shops I've called are direct competitors to Bike Bandit, so understandably, do not honor their warranty repair claims.

If Bike Bandit can't direct you to a shop they work with, and if that's how bad their customer service is, then the warranty is bullshit. I'd simply replace the tire, send them the bill, and ask for reimbursement. If they balk, tell them of their useless customer service and tell them about this thread. Either they'll step up or they won't. What they do will determine if you or anyone else shops there again.

And that's crap....they tell you to go to an authorized shop but they can't tell you where to find one? Horse shit. I'm guessing there are no "authorized" shops and the warranty is a scam to get people to buy tires from them.

Yes, that's who I called, but thanks. The problem is that all the shops I called don't work with Bike Bandit and thus can't get the authorization number needed for reimbursement.

Are the shops you called on Bike Bandit's list?

I found a shop near me. At this point, I don't really care if they accept the warranty. I just want it fixed. From my last phone call with the shop, it just sounds like it will take a couple days since they have to order the replacement tire AFTER I bring in my damaged one. Such a pain. I guess my commuter is going to down a couple days. Never shopping at bike bandit again.

Bike Bandit is ok.

It's the third party warranty schemes (some LLC mailbox in Bermuda) that can become the headache.

Yeah, the warranty is the deal-breaker for me. I'd gladly pay the premium for a local shop and have the freedom to drop off my bike and have my tire fixed/replaced within a day vs having to wait multiple days, or possibly a week or more while they ship out my replacement.

Bike Bandit has good prices, but I'm going to pass next time.
