Just really glad you didn't!! :)

And I can't wait for you to get out and ride... I'll roll out at an ungodly early hour to ride with you when you do your first ride!

awwwww, now that's really sweet! I can bet there will probably be a first ride before the usual Sunday morning ride. :teeth BUT I would absolutely love it if you came for a ride with us. I think you would find it pretty nice to get out there before the majority of the traffic starts up. Then you'd understand why we do it so early. :)

Sorry, not nearly as useful as I was hoping for:

How long ago did that happen to him? I'm a little concerned about sensory input on my right leg. After all, I need to feel the pavement when when I'm in a lean, right? :thumbup :ride

Yeah, I read that last summer. I had honestly not thought about it until you just posted it. That's still a tough one. I'm not sure how I would react/manage it if I had been paralyzed because of this. I mean... that has to be the worst thing that could ever happen to a rider.

Shameful plug time!

I don't know how many of you subscribe to City Bike, but if you don't, you should! My article about all of this will be in the June edition! I'm really stoked that Gabe gave me the chance to reach out to his readers like this!

It really is my hope that what I'm going through will reach all riders, young and old who don't or only wear the minimum gear while they're riding. If it doesn't make them wear gear maybe it will at least give them something to chew on.

Next up? Starting writing State and/or Federal congress! I would like to see some higher rails on all over passes to prevent riders (or anyone for that matter) from getting chucked over the short 3' walls. If that wall had been higher (even if just simple guard rails were on top of the wall) I probably would have walked away with a little road rash on my legs and that's it.

Thank you for using this platform for the betterment of your fellow riders. Very admirable and much appreciated. :thumbup

Today is the day I go for my evaluation! YAY! I should be released to "load bear as tolerated" which means I get to start learning to walk again. OOOOOH the joys of a broken pelvis and hip. Lemme tell ya, I NEVER want to go through this again! As if that needed saying, right? :laughing

I'm getting prepared even. I went and bought myself a cane last night. I bought a House replica. Complete with flames and everything! Now I just have to start being an ass (quiet in the peanut gallery!) and buy myself a Repsol Honda. The only question is, should I use the cane the right way or the way he does? :laughing I can't help but to laugh at that one. He's suppose to be a doctor and uses a cane wrong.

I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it! Yeah... I went there... :x

Oh and sorry guys, can't do a BBQ this weekend. Too many things going on. I meant to mention that earlier but I failed. :(

Hope everything goes well at the eval and that your recovery keeps going as well as it has been! I bet your extremely upbeat attitude has a lot to do with how well you've been recovering physically. :thumbup

Hope they give you the news you're looking for.
And your "House" cane is nowhere near as cool as my "Pitbull/Ohlins" cane. :x
Jes' sayin'...

Really glad you're making improvements in such leaps and bounds... that's just awesome!! Keep up the good work!:thumbup

Well, it didn't go as well as I had hoped. Apparently a trauma surgeon has to release me. My Ortho couldn't do it. But we did take the xrays to send to a trauma surgeon and we should hear back tomorrow.

But there's a lot of good news here. The Ortho did say that he didn't see the fractures looking at the x-rays any longer soooooooooo I'm hopeful that it will be a release tomorrow.

The other news is that my potential knee problem is probably not a problem. But we're going to do an MRI just to be sure.

I'm being sent to a podiatrist to be sure there isn't anything wrong with the ankle because I'm feeling pain in it on occasion but it could just be the lack of use and will go away once I start using it and building everything up again. Same with the knee.

Now the ONE thing I'm worried about is the filter they had to put in to keep any clots from being an issue has a time frame for removal. It's 6 months from the time it gets put in. I have a referral to talk to a cardio-vascular surgeon about getting that removed and what can be done. Of course that can't be removed until the clot dangers are gone which won't be until I can walk. I'm hoping that can be removed because it does cause swelling in the lower extremities and that's kind of bugging me that my feet and legs are swollen all the time. Part of that could be the simple fact that I'm not moving them much but I would just rather get rid of the filter anyway. I don't want it to be there for the rest of my life. I've got enough metal in my body and I don't like something that can restrict blood flow for any reason.

So there... now you know. I'll know more tomorrow. :)

I read your piece in CityBike today.

Well done.:thumbup Have you considered a follow up once you're on your feet again (pun intended) to detail out the time, pain and effort required to recover from something like this?

Absolutely! I'm waiting to get my copy so I can see it in print myself. :)
