BARF Spring Rally 2015 - Kernville Photo Thread

Hoho

Ride to Eat
So it looks like that is a significant amount of salvageable parts. I'll put a $100 bounty on it if anyone needs another reason to go back and ride there again. :)

I checked my tracker.
The position is:
Lat: 36.232791 Lon: -118.868058

It's on Yokohl Valley Drive.

Ed and Danny had a long conversation...

Having a large bike was not ideal on 155, 190 IMO. It was still fun, but the bumpy nature of the road and endless switch backs made for a lot of work.

However.. 58.. well ya know.

Still cannot believe the final part of the run up 178... cue Judas Priest Music..:teeth

That rider looks familiar...I think I recall seeing him up on Grizzly at the Wall last summer. He was giving me the stink-eye. :laughing

It's Chill, and who wouldn't? :dunno

:thumbup

Unpossible anyways, was without a ride last summer. However, the last time I gave you the stink-eye was at Homeroom.... :twofinger

Moar pix... Somewhere on M-50 near California Hot Springs.

Headed down to Kernville around 3:00 on Friday afternoon. No pix because I was bombing down. Boring stuff too: splitting on 580 E, droning down I5, almost running out of gas in the middle of the valley, layering up for the last 20 miles, finally rolling in around 8:15.

The only shots I took were at the bar. Great scene in the saloon, the rest of the night is a little more foggy...

After a late start, I headed out solo. The plan was to head north then west to California Hot Springs, have a soak, grab some lunch, work my way to 155 and loop back to Kernville. Gassed up and rolled out.

First stop heading up the Kern River, a little waterfall. OOOoohhh, aaaahhhhh....

This is M-50 just before heading into the clouds and fog. The cold, damp, 50' of visibility kind of shit. I believe that is Hatchet Peak behind the clouds.

Looking back at the shit. Thinking I'm really glad to be out of that and heading to a hot tub. Good thing the rest of the loop is at lower elevations.

Made it! Can't wait to get a soak in. Standing at the counter, geared up, I reach into my tank bag to grab my wallet.

:wtf:|:(:mad

I have no idea if my wallet had dropped out when taking pictures or if it fell out at the gas station in Kernville. So... I go back the way I came, through the shit. Fortunately the ride back was just as much fun with a dash of "I hope I find my wallet." Which I did. At the gas station. :party

Hey, lets turn this frown upside down... I have some late lunch with some late risers and decide to head out for an afternoon rip.

WOOHOO!

Sunday was another solo day. North out of Kernville, through the Trail of 100 Giants, up and over the awesomeness of 190, did not stop until getting gas in Hanford. That was one of the best single tanks of gas that I have ever ridden. However, no pix... :p

First photo op...

Coalinga. At this point I find out that I have caught up and passed the group that started 1:15 earlier than me. I am about 30-45 min ahead on them. Fast Rip indeed..:twofinger

I watch 2 California Condors along that rise while eating a gas station sammich. Super cool. Massive... The birds, not the sando.

Nice... really glad you found your wallet.

Really wonder how you ended up passing us...? We were pretty responsible citizens across the valley and spent a little time getting lost... and .. let see what other excuse can I throw in. :teeth

I stopped in the middle of the fog to snap a quick pic.

Sorry it took awhile to post pictures of the Rally

Day 1:

Butch came down to see us off.

Danny with his high viz rainsuit. We forced him to wear it all day so it won't rain on us. It worked!

Riding with the Hun today

On Hwy 25 coming into Hollister

Gas up in Hollister

A quick break on Hwy 25

Lunch at Loading Chute in Creston. Budman approves.

More inbound pictures on Day 1

We made. It was at race track speed but we made it in.
