Gotta go get your live scan fingerprints first. They'll give you a number that needs to be submitted on the application. Application is done on-line, then you have to upload a scan of your drivers license. Then wait. and wait. Took almost exactly a month for it from application to approval.

So, you get fingerprinted, send in an app, pay a fee and...just wait? That's it?

Are they any inspections or site requirements or anything like that? Or potentially anyhthing like that? Can the DoJ show up unannounced to audit something?

Pretty much the process. Nope, the COE is basically a background check that's good for a year.

Ducking out of the ammo shortage/gouging and going sporting clays

Even in this chaotic time of shortages of many calibers of ammo as well as firearms. Sporting shotguns and 12Ga target load ammo seems completely unaffected.

I was earlier looking at a Beretta A400 Parallel target from someone here on BARF, but the communication got spotty and I dropped the ball on that :(

It might not have been all bad news though as I just picked up a Beretta A400 Excel Multitarget; Essentially the same shotgun, with fit adjustability options, and the fast barrel adjustable target rib, and kickoff recoil absorbtion stock.

Now to get it setup and patterned and get the rib dialed in and hopefully start busting clay until the rest of the shooting world calms down.

Does the 03 require all the strict bookkeeping and possibility of surprise inspection visits from 3-letter agencies?

It requires you to keep a log of acquisitions and dispositions of all C&R firearms while you are licensed. You will not get any surprise visits from ATF, and chances are high that they will never ask to see your book. If they do ever want to audit you, they will call and ask you to come down to the local office. I have never been audited for my C&R license. From working at the gun store, and going through two audits there, I'm going to guess that they will usually only go after C&R FFLs if they happen to see your name a lot in the books of a gun shop that has a lot of funky stuff going on.

Range report:

This is the most flat shooting gun I’ve ever used. It’s incredible. The trigger is freakin amazing and the gun comes right back on target after the round leaves the barrel. I’ve done a lot of shooting with different pistols and this one takes the cake.

It’s literally a cheat code.

I know it’s off roster for most CA gun owners, but if you ever stumble across one on the second hand market, don’t miss out.

Yep. I've had my 03 FFL since 2007, and I've never (knock on wood) gotten a call from the ATF. I also don't buy and sell much of anything, so when I renew and it asks me how many purchases I've made, it's usually a low enough number that it doesn't even raise any flags.

So, just curious if there's any Calgunners here and what your thoughts are on the Qanon based posts over there about the election. Sure seems like there's gonna be a lot of disappointed people on 1/20/21 when Biden takes the oath of office.

I don't frequent CG, save for trying to find details on any legislation/legal events -- and even then I try to not dig too deep, but just scratch the surface.

But I can't see much good coming from commenting on whatever that is here that doesn't get dumped in the sink post haste.

Gun nuts are some of the worst people on the planet.

I was thankfully banned from the general forum years ago without warning. I assume it was because I was calling out blatant racists and misbehaving cops. Now I don't have to worry about those troglodytes raising my blood pressure. Now I just use the site for legal info, the hunting forum, and CCW info.

If you really want to make your skin crawl, check out the faith forum over there.
