Are You Following Me?

Some people have the melting point of butter--it takes nothing to get them riled up. If you're out on the road you *will* meet one of these people at some point. Granted, most of them are unlikely to act on their aggression, but it's better to know what to do if someone does decide to go 5150 than not. Courteous riding is certainly one's best defense again the wackos of the world, but it's naive to dismiss the possibility of ever being followed.

:thumbup gotcha. All I was saying, is that when I'm on my motorcycle I do everything possible NOT to piss off people around me. Someone flips me off I give them a nice :wave and I'm on my way. If they decide to pursue/fight me, my helmet is harder than their fists and my CF knuckles serve as GREAT face caving in devices :teeth

See, that's precisely the problem...your plan is get them out of the car and beat them silly (a good plan albeit they have to oblige you).

Like most of us you've got a good plan--go out of your way to be polite and keep your head down. Occasionally you'll find someone cursing you a blue streak and giving you the finger and you'll ask yourself "What did I do?" Who knows--maybe you simply exercised your right of way and they felt slighted.

I'm also always shocked by the amount of "at the next stoplight I pulled up next to the drivers door and gave them a piece of my mind stories" you come across. See you're sitting next to a 2 ton vehicle, cursing out the driver...all they have to do is turn the wheel left and gas it and they'll drag the rear axle over your pinned body. Granted, they just commited about 9 felonies--BUT--you have to go to the hospital, your bike is wrecked, and YOU started it.

ALWAYS avoid confrontations.

Here's a good example of how 1 deranged person with a grudge against someone else can ruin YOUR day or even LIFE:

Ada County prosecutors say David Paul Turnovec is a dangerous man who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and scares his own family to the point that his brother sleeps with a gun.

They said the 29-year-old Buhl man intentionally swerved through traffic on Interstate 84 to ram - without braking - into two Idaho State Police motorcycle officers parked in the median near Eisenman Road.

That's why prosecutors asked for, and got, a $500,000 bond for Turnovec, who is being held in the Ada County Jail on two charges of aggravated battery on a police officer and one count of using a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.

ISP Sgt. Chris Duggan and Cpl. John Vance were injured when Turnovec ran them down at what witnesses told police was "highway speed," according to court testimony.

Duggan was listed in serious condition at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center Friday, according to hospital officials. ISP officials said he sustained several injuries, including a broken leg.

Vance also was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

ISP Capt. Steve Richardson said he talked with Duggan Friday and said he was doing OK, and that barring complications, doctors expect Duggan to recover.

Turnovec appeared jittery but lucid when he made his initial court appearance Friday.

His attorney told 4th District Magistrate Michael Oths his client had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and said he had family in the Buhl area.

Ada County Deputy Prosecutor Jonathan Medema said Turnovec's family hadn't seen him in more than a year and that his brother was scared of him and slept with a gun in case he showed up.

Medema said Turnovec had been released from an unnamed branch of the military because of medical issues, but he did not elaborate on when that happened.

Police and prosecutors say it appears Turnovec was angry that he got a ticket from a Boise police motorcycle officer for speeding in a school zone on Broadway Avenue earlier Thursday.

After he crashed into the troopers, he jumped out of the truck and asked them to shoot him, witnesses said.

Vance, who was able to at least partially get off his motorcycle before it was hit, was able to go over to Turnovec and arrest him, Richardson said.

The charge of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer is punishable by up to 30 years in prison for each charge. The use of a deadly weapon charge is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

A preliminary hearing on the charge is scheduled for Nov. 6.

Last year I had just merged onto 101 from Hwy 12, I was heading North Bound when I came up to a guy on a harley, He was in the fast lane I was in the slow lane and the Hwy was open in front of us, So I started to ride past him (in my own lane) I was not speeding, He was doing like 50mph. When I was pretty much right beside the guy he swerved at me...I was shocked so I slowed down, and was like fuck that dickhead so I tried again, this time he swerved and kicked at me, I thought to myself WTF!! Then he started swerving back and forth from his lane into mine and started slowing down trying to block me. I was getting a little nervous by this time, So I downshifted to 3rd and blew past the guy when I had a chance. I could hear his piece of shit bike and his loud pipes trying to catch me...By the time I hit 6th, I could bairly hear him so I exited real fast and ducked into a near by housing track. I never seen the jackass again, But it did get the heart rate up.

3. Once you fear (or know) you're being followed, proceed to a well lit, well populated area. This sounds awful, but place yourself where there are witnesses. Witnesses will help confirm your account of what happens and often serve as good samaritans. Knowing where the local police station, substation or barracks are located is a good thing too. Go the police station parking lot and pull right up to the door. If you're being followed--they'll peel off. IF they follow you into the parking lot, just park it by the door and lay on the horn. Officers will respond. (Come on, there's a bike up on the sidewalk by the front door laying on the horn! They'll come out.) Police Stations tend to be populated 24/7 but be aware that at 2 in the morning in small municipalities you might not have an officer on duty at the station.

Police station doesn't always work...

It's worse... the stuff he's talking about is from a 2003 thread started by Mistyz about getting attacked. That was even revived once in 2009. :facepalm I don't get what's so hard about looking at the date. These threads will be seriously low on any search results. :dunno

But it does bring out how many people I'm missing. Seeing a lot of old names in both of those threads that I haven't seen in year. :cry

here is the video officer

all this talk and nobody said a word about having a cam mounted on your bike.
just install a vireo pencil cam facing to the rear. and something to the front.

here is video proof of someone dong you a wrong. and this even works for your cage.

one guy some years back was giving me a hard time, my truck was four times his size and weight. but all i had to do was hold up a video cam and he got away from me as fast as he could. i did not even have the lens cap off. :rofl

so i know it works, some have even used it in court to get people in jail.
