I am AMA member #883253 and BARF's mini racer is AMA member #912055, at 8 years old has been a member for 3 years already. I figured that if he wants to be a Pro racer someday he should be an AMA member for sure.

I joined in 1964 my 4 digit number was my Dad's number he joined along time a go. Mon and Dad rode his Indian 4 from Stockton to Niagara Falls on their honeymoon (No interstates) he was a mechanic for a living. When I earned my life membership I sent a copy of my Dad's card and asked for his number.

I joined with a thought in mind- to preserve the freedoms on our roads. I don't want to explain to my kids/grandkids what it was like to ride on these roads, without them ever having the opportunity to do so as well. The sad state of affairs with on- and off-road government regulation showed that without the AMA (and BRC, and MRF), our riding days would surely have been numbered. I want everyone to have the choice to ride, rather than have the choice made for them. :flag

I sometimes disagree with the way the organization is managed, but I rarely disagree with their priorities.
I like that they are trying to get ahead of the moto noise issue. They advocate for a uniform method for measuring bike sounds so as to create and enforce rational noise regulations.
