A lesson for all BARFers (long)

Mr. Line,
Good thread, there is some real life experiences documented there. I hope some newbs read it and learn from his mistakes, we've all been there.:)

Frong, wish you the best and hope you ride again if you chose too.:thumbup

I was a noob on BARF around the same time as Frong. Not to mention a noob on the sprotbiles. When you say Frong, I get that nostalgic feeling...I feel like he and I were both in the same place as far as riding and BARFing progression...my bike was lucky enough not to get as badly done when I crashed though. Here's to Frong :port

I gave frong a thumbup for being able to laugh at it and not take it personally. Big difference from the old days. Seeing as how frong is fine with the thread, I think it's ok, it's good to read history....even if it's barf history :twofinger.

wow, good form in those vids... looked like more comfy in lefts than rights, and no holding back with the throttle. I don't remember the whole history, but too bad you got so busted up on the T1 crash, were you heading to the race grid Fr0ng?

Greetings from THill...
I hereby flame my own post!

The new post is weaksauce! But, at least it's your own story and not some plagiarized web material. C for effort C for riding, B for the crash! :thumbup

Hmm..you were looking pretty decent before the crash...just overgas on exit? I have done the same thing, had the back end come around, but saved it in turn 13...

Fr0ng is a real deal guy who had a little bad luck and realized that in the long run he was damn lucky.. great info for any new rider. Damn happy he is still with us.

I'll rewrite the 1st post using only my own experiences.

Funny, I just gave you a micron of good rep after reading your post. I couldn't quite figure out what the commotion in the thread was about as I continued reading. I suppose you were having at some one. Well, I guess your rewrite was a good one. Thanks for sharing your experiences and thoughts on this very important and timely subject. Thanks for taking out the other stuff, maybe fr0ng could repost it? :)

If lovin' Barf is Fr0ng, I donut B right, er left..

lest the legend of Fr0ng be lost to Barfkind, I will witness bears.

In the long run frong was/is one of the lucky ones. he's alive with lessons learned, and maybe that's all any of us can hope for.

Nicely put!

I think the classiest thing would be to re-title the thread and remove fr0ng's name. Maybe he doesn't care but, funny thing, the poster can come up with just as much from personal experience, without throwing someone else into the fray...

I liked your "lap of shame" video.. For me it doesn't matter if I am getting passed on the track what counts is that you are riding safely within your limits and having a fun time...
on another note;

I :rofl at one of the youtube comments

QUOTE"lol no effence, but do you even know how to ride. im 14 and i can ride a 250cc dirt bike, so that should sorta be a piece of cake to ride. just give me the bike and i will be all set to ride there. my father and i raced that track, well on the computer, but i still know the track"

first he spelled offense wrong. And the kid can ride a 250cc dirt bike... whoop de fucking doo. And a 250cc dirt bike is no comparison to riding an r1 on a track and no it is not a piece of cake.. End flame

+1

i would think you should be most proud of this lap because even though you had all these other riders passing you you stayed within your limits and weren't tempted (or just fought the temptation) to ride faster than you should have.

Back in his day, Fr0ng was improving his skills - but not as much as he thought he was. He crashed. A lot. Typical cocky newbie. :p
After totalling the bike, he asked Barfers what his next bike should be. The majority suggested a smaller (250-500cc) used bike to learn skills on, yet he still got a new 600RR.
Crashed that too. His ego was cashing checks his skills couldn't cover...
He also had a bad get-off at the racetrack, laying broken & undetected in a ditch.. :(
:wave Hi Sami! Hope you're doing well!! :kiss

I think the OP's message is clear enough even now and hopefully will be heeded by many!! :applause

redline - have you done a lot of trackdays at this point?

... and those guys telling you to Shift! Shift! - I say B.S. !!! At least according to Jason Pridmore, who told us to keep it in 2nd (at Thill) around the whole track. He said you'll learn more about throttle control with the revs up high because the throttle is extremely sensitive in the high revs (no kidding!)

and your crash - the revs were low, I guess the lean angle of the bike + too much throttle roll on at that point = spinup!
