Biden’s massive stimulus bill will give the market another boost plus tech earnings next week. I wouldn’t be pulling money out just yet.

Probably. Maybe not. The FED policy will keep juicing the market if anything does.

The following might belong in a speculation thread, but speculation seems to be driving the market that people are trying to invest in, so it does not seem to be off topic in this thread.

What is the deal with Gamestop? I only know of it as a sad dying retail chain that is going the way of video stores. but apparently it is up 50-70 percent recently. Sounds like some stock opiner was going to opine on why the stock was overpriced, and a block of reddit users somehow manipulated the price higher by a "~short squeeze". More importantly, who would knowingly invest money in the next Betamax, and why?

Still hard to wrap my mind around the idea that it would trade higher than an OTC stock, based on my limited personal experience with the company.

The rise of Gamestop is purely fundamental and nothing to do with speculation, like other areas of the market.

- Lowered Debt
- Company bought back shares
- P/E ratio that is far undervalued
- Good earnings
- New Console Cycle that no merchant can keep in stock (new playstation and Xbox)
- Over 100% shorted
- New investor and board members (Ryan Cohen of Chewy.com and his team)
- Omnichannel go to market strategy
- 300% growth in ecommerce sales last quarter
- Short Squeeze due to all of the above, and still heavily shorted = more room for continued squeeze.

Interesting that it is possible to short sell a share more than once, which allows for the ~140 percent of shares shorted for GameStop. I don't agree that the huge one day rise was due to fundamentals of the company, they have negative earnings for the past three quarters, and are not expected to be profitable anytime soon.
Seems like a clear technical exploit where a bunch of reddit users successfully gambled on creating a short squeeze by buying shares in the company at the same time to initiate the squeeze. Gonna have to start looking at that reddit forum to see if they plan on manipulating the price of stocks in any company that I hold.

Recommendations for a Vanguard close equivalent to AKREX? This fund has been very good for me but the ER is 1.31% Per Vanguard, their similar funds are VPMCX at 0.38% and VWUSX, also at 0.38%. Admiral shares are available for VWUSX (VWUAX) with a $50k minimum.

Well the short shares are borrowed on margin and thats why they can get squeezed so fucking tightly. I love it. Also the publicity of WSB will be the death of it unfortunately

The publicity definitely piqued my interest in that reddit forum, gonna check it out later today.

Edit: Damn, I think I'm gonna gamble on some GameStop stock on Monday.
Edit #2: Options are pretty interesting, I don't think that I am set up for options in my Roth account, but will look into being able to use them. The "long straddle" option strategy sounds like a no-brainer for the speculative stock mentioned in the first edit.
