OK - does anyone have thoughts on using existing money in broker account to do DCA?

I was thinking about putting X dollars into a very conservative fund, then automatically transferring money from that fund to buy something like VOO (maybe more aggressive - (FSPTX)) on a monthly basis.

It's not the same as me putting money from my paycheck into an investment (I already do that). But similar concept.

I do this with Crypto, and it seems to help me build discipline and not try and time the markets.

I'm confused as to what you're trying to do. Are you priced out of a Roth or something?

I had some money what was sitting not doing anything productive. It was from my LLC and was above the operating capital that I need.

That money is now at an online broker.

Rather than keep it apportioned among bonds / equity, I was thinking to take the part that's now in bonds, and periodically transfer part of it (via automatic monthly transfer) into equity funds and/or certain stocks.

The idea is to balance our the costs of the equity funds and stocks over time.

I am member of LLC - so I can do SEP IRA. That might figure into this at some point. That is, move XX dollars into SEP (into bonds) - then automatically reallocate over time (into equity) to do DCA. As you know with SEPs, it's not typical for business owners to contribute small amounts at a time. What they do is wait until they see what their income is, then max the SEP contribs right before April 15.

Also working with my accountant on this stuff to make sure I follow the rules!!!

Ah, DCA = dollar cost averaging. Got it.

You have too many outstanding/unknowns to opine one way or another on your decision. :)

Sounds like you want to really complicate things.

Whoope! I bought three shares of Tesla and it's already up three bucks a share, I probably will sell.

Up $3.50 now, it's hard to hold on.

I’ll never again laugh at anyone buying Tesla shares. Obviously there’s something going on there that most Barbers didn’t comprehend.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see it double or triple from here within the next five years.

Shrug. I still consider it another .com flyer. It will be fantastic until it utterly tanks.

Nah, i sold and took the profit. :rofl

Not a bad plan. I have bought and sold Tesla a couple times. The last time I sold was to 'take a profit' and reduce my anxiety.

My Tesla wild perditions for the 2020 Q4 earnings report coming up at the end of the month: Tesla will have reduced debt expense to make a GAAP profit even subtracting from EV regulatory credit sales.

What’s up with Apple’s garbage stock app. Its currently showing UA trading at $16.33 while the actual price is $19.03. I’ve noticed this before with showing wrong data for other stocks on the app. Fix your shit Apple

When I started trading stocks, we called up our broker and placed an order over the phone, it was recorded. :rofl Cost a fortune as well.

Let the slaughter begin. Futures are down 250 on the Dow.

I think that the novelty of the new administration has worn off and there's going to be a bit of an upset of the apple cart.
