Mucho thanks to Tom and Kurt who put together a great rally – awesome routes, beautiful scenery and a cool place to hang out @ Gold Pan lodge and Quincy. As a noobie, this was my first rally – and I had a blast. :thumbup
It was a pleasure to be a member of the ADV crew with Kurt, Todd, Brian and Dan – the water crossings were very cool…as was L-L road :teeth It seemed like every new stretch of the route I’d find myself saying “now THIS is my favorite road for sure…it can’t get any better than this” :thumbup And thanks for waiting for me guys
A shout out to all the BARFers I met, including Steve, Dan, Kyle, Jack, Will, Andreeeesssss, Kevin, Rick, Budman, and everyone else I’ve missed.
Kyle – I won’t make fun of your pink booties ever again – my boots were soaked….:laughing
Kevin – If you really don’t like your vstrom fairing then you need to go naked….

I did 767 miles in two days, and learned a lot about touring, group riding, and myself:
- I’m not fast – I need to ride my own ride, at my own pace and ability
- Stop and take more pictures next time – or get a gopro
- More dirt….and goat trails....I really like dirt….:teeth
- I now have a good tool kit – didn’t use it but now it stays on the bike
- +350 miles a day…meh….that’s what advil and beer are for :thumbup
Edit: Need to look into a better seat before the next long trip….
- As much as I am a returning rider after 25yr break, I really am a noobie
- BARFers are great people!...and the knowledge base of places to ride can’t be beat :teeth:thumbup
- Shoulda stuck with my plan of checking those baggage straps every stop….
Look forward to riding with you guys again :thumbup – pics below
