Alice's

So... Alice's was pretty good considering the weather. We had probably 30 riders stop by, browse the literature, grab an emergency card to fill out and enter the SPOT give away.

An added bonus was a couple of merchants in the area putting out emergency cards and or agreeing to put up a display with them. So now I have to figure out a display :teeth

Of course the crash pic's seem to gather the most attention, but some of the others were of interest as well.

All of the graphic's will go up on the web site soon as downloadable PDF's.

Thanks again to those volunteers that hung out on a somewhat chilly holiday weekend.

You are describing me...! :teeth

I am one lucky old A-hole who made it thru the formative moto years somewhat intact.. and want to help those that are loving our sport to make it better by being better. The more experience - the greater the skill set - the better our chances for survival and the better our chances for being a lifer.

I have plenty of friends who are.. and each has faced their list of challenges to be a life long motorcyclist. Each has a unique perspective and experiences that are worthy of sharing. I truly hope that our newer riders will take the time to take a moment or two to learn from others mistakes or experience..

On a motorcycle you can not make any mistake and still be facing a life changing event. You can mitigate those by applying some knowledge... knowing the possiblilities that lie around that blind turn can go along way to making it home safe... that is our goal.

Better, smarter.. more skilled.

You can't love the one you're with unless you make it home. I have so many friends who ride that have a wife or kids waiting for them. They love them with no conditions... they deserve to have us here. To have us here to guide them thru life and to share in their world. We can do that a little better by...being Better, smarter.. more skilled.

There is no $$ value you can put on being a Dad... a Mom... a son or a daughter.. the value of making it home safe however is the same. Priceless.

It is in that... we push to help our own. To provide a mental note that we DO have some control and we have the ability to make good decisions when we ride.

Well it wasn't very long... I am heading out again.. tonight to the CHP open house in San Jo.. info here: http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=247483

So if you want to check out the crazy CHP vehicles and such you can grab and emergency contact card, enter to win the SPOT and basically see what 1Rider is about.

Thanks to REL for letting me in the door.. :teeth :thumbup

Thanks again for showing up at the CHP open house with all the good info and good swag! :thumbup

I've got a question, though. I noticed at the booth tonight that you'd registered 1rider.org, and had the URL on the materials. So, I checked it out tonight, but it just goes to the generic BARF front page.

Will http://www.1rider.org/ eventually host more targeted, specific safety info and links? I'd think a lot of people unfamiliar with the program (and BARF) may go there looking for more of the same type of info that's available at the booth, and links to the various programs and organizations promoted there (of which BARF would be one).

Yes... it does currently just go to barf. We are going to build the site and get that going..

I should probably just point it to this thread for now.

Thanks for the good question.

I just configured this. It may take a teeny while to fully propagate, but it's good to go for the most part.

Anyone loading *.1rider.org/* will be sent to this thread. If they have BARF cookies (yummie!) they'll be honored so if you're already logged into barf, you still will be with all your settings (last message read) intact.
