Speeding ticket on highway 95. This made ManInBlack very sad.

Aaron pushed his bike for 2 miles and then jumped in the pool with all of his gear on.

The lovely El Capitan, where the pasta is endless and the smokes are cheap.

Those tribal cops suck. There's a lot of controversy out here between them and NHP about who has authority to stop vehicles on Federal Highways. The Tribes often run revenue stops on people as you pass through tribal land, but the highway doesn't really belong to them. They've been told in my country to stay the F off the highways and go play with the drunks. Some are not even POST certified officers.

The cop was friendly, but the situation was sketchy. I had gone through a town somewhere south of Yerington where the speed limit dropped and then picked up speed afterward when I could see the 70 mph limit sign ahead of me. He told me that the speed limit isn't 70 until you reach the sign.

yep...that's what they do (revenue stop). They do the reverse the other way...write you up for the reduced speed even though you haven't passed the sign yet ("you can see it, do it"). Sucks. I am always careful going through the reservations and a lot of the small towns.

What court do you have to appear in? Lyon County? And what is the NRS he wrote on the ticket? If it's NRS 484.3685 you might be lucky. It's a no point, no record ticket for "rural speeding". If its not, see if you can plead it to that (which they do often).

Everybody does that. What a dickwad way to get revenue for your town.

It is from the Walker River Paiute Tribe and the court is Hawthorne. NRS is 484B.600, basic speeding it think. I am just planning on traffic school...

Just a preview to keep this thread going in the right direction...

I took monitor pass on my way back and while riding through noticed a dirt road shooting off the side, looking back I saw it was probably headed up Leviathan Peak Lookout Quickly flipping a bitch I headed up the a short but bumpy dirt road to these views (click for full size):

More fun to, inside and back from Hawthorne.

My first Hawthorne. I can't believe I'm saying this, but CAN'T wait to go back! (but on a completely different bike, or in a car. I can't do 400+ miles in a day anymore). Next year, Dirtbikes!!

hawthorne 1.jpg

El Capitan is just... El Capitan.

hawthorne 8.jpg

But El Capitan at night is a completely different experience.

hawthorne 2.jpg

What pics would be complete without a shot of these kickass Kriega packs?! I highly, highly recommend them. I'll be reviewing them soon.

hawthorne 3.jpg

Potty break. Thanks Kurt!

hawthorne 4.jpg

Riding with the fellas.

hawthorne 5.jpg

Traffic at the Gas stop, Markleeville?

hawthorne 6.jpg

SV town!

hawthorne 7.jpg

Oh Rhonda you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind...

hawthorne 9.jpg

New asian friends!

hawthorne 10.jpg

Mickey! I wish I brought my own lounge chair.

hawthorne 11.jpg

A little tipsy watching tricycle races.

hawthorne 12.jpg

My bike had it's own secure parking spot Friday night. Whew, what a relief!

hawthorne 13.jpg

Momosan scored the BEST hat in town.

hawthorne 14.jpg

I think Nick's jealous of her knee scooter.

hawthorne 15.jpg

Momosan's first time pulling the trigger! Wheeeeee.

hawthorne 16.jpg

Boys, so excited shooting weapons.

hawthorne 17.jpg

"Whachoo smokin' machete?"

hawthorne 18.jpg

Oh ha, I think I took this drunk.

hawthorne 19.jpg

The only pic I took of Sonora Pass. Such an incredible road. Even better than Monitor, me thinks.
It was SO HOT.

hawthorne 20.jpg

I couldn't take the heat and the freeway anymore, so ended up at mom's for a few hours for a shower
and FOOOOD. Yum.

Indeed. So cool to have you join us J !!
Glad you want to come back and had a good time.

It is not 400 miles a day if you don't ride with the Hun!! :laughing

Nice pics.

Chess... Dug the vid. :cool

I did miss Pit Ho. When I saw the pic of the movie hut once again it came flying back.

Forgot to hoist one for him and Bill Saturday night. Godspeed boys. :rose :rose

Riding with the Hun was awesome! Just a little painful in terms of distance though. I really really need a different bike next year or need to trailer in dirtbikes instead. Whoops!

When and where's the next rally, huh huh huh huh?
